Guest lobber Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 I've been trying to convert some dvd's I have to play on the streak without any success so far. I'm trying to find out the exact resolution and format I should be ripping them as and not had much luck. I do need to be able to have subtitles available and they also need to be able to be turned off when the missus wants to watch, and on when I do (I'm deaf so they help). I've tried MP4 and AVI so far but no luck with the subtitles. Can anyone give any advice on the best resolution, bit rate and format? Cheers Andy
Guest vinokirk Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 http://www.fullandfree.info/mobile/htc-tou...converter-v121/ Works perfect for me! I didnt even know there was 1.2 out, im using 1.1beta!
Guest nobnut Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Or you can use any converter which converts to (a bog standard) .mp4 It will play a treat... like honey dripping from a vestil virgin's lips... like a silent soliloquy... like the sound of a breaking heart... like the flutter of a butterfly's wing... like the drop of a newly formed early morning dewdrop in Spring... like the tenerous beat of Cupid's bow string... like the drawing breath of a Saint's chorus... like the dying chorus of a master's symphony... like a movie should play on a Dell Streak... Possibly the best handheld in the world. Amen.
Guest Dogmann55 Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 @lobber Not sure about subtitles but am no longer bothering to convert anything as am using Rock Player Beta instead which plays most formats but before i found this i was converting my Avi and DivX fies to MP4 and playing with the player in the Streak with these settings. MPEG4 Video Width 800 Height 480 Frame rate 25 Profile Advanced Simple Bit Rate 2500 kbps Audio Format AAC Sample Rate 44100 Stereo Profile LC Bit Rate 128kbps Which was producing really good results with no stutter judder or break ups it just played perfectly hope that helps you. Guest Eric.Druse Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) I use rock player beta, too. It works fine. Edited July 14, 2010 by Eric.Druse
Guest yearofhao Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 it's simple to Rip home made DVD and commercial DVD to Dell Streak if you use DVD to Dell Streak converter that can convert DVD movie to mpeg-4 not only for Dell streak but for most popular ipad, ipod, iphone, you can also cut unwanted DVD chapters, titles and join useful DVD movie into one

Marc In a few forums, some report stuttering, low fps, even lack of audio sync. Can you share the video types your playing with rockplayer and bit rates?
Guest enne91 Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 The best free program for all platforms is Avidemux....it gives back excellent results You can download it from product site....here http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/download.html For 90 min it needs about 3 min to convert....

Guest anonyx Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 (edited) RockPlayer with arm7 support is vailable in the market and plays AVI, MKV and other formats. Once you've got the initial conversion sorted this may help you. Simply drag over from your computer and play, no conversion necessary. 100% awesome. Edited July 26, 2010 by anonyx
