Guest stevenz Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 How can I get the Messages app to display my picture instead of an empty box? Only cosmetic, but it looks wierd. Cheers, Steve.

Guest stevenz Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) Add new contact in your phonebook with your number and your picture. I figured that'd be what it was looking for, it's not picking it up. In the About Phone settings it's showing my Phone Number as "Unknown", so I suspect that my providers implementation of whatever it's looking for on the SIM is a bit crap, which would not surprise me in the least. It shouldn't look for the contact in the SIM but in the handset. So if you have your contact stored on your handset it should work, try changing the number in international format or country format
Guest escagelion Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 take your sim card into a sim card reader or a previous phone that allows you to modify the special number on your sim card. You should be able to modify your number. After doing this, your picture might appear. here are the links related to this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687011 http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/andr...732e1&hl=en

Guest stevenz Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) Aha, nice one. Pretty sure I've got an old Sony Ericsson that has the option to do this, I'll let you know! Cheers. EDIT: Turns out that the old BlackBerry that I had sitting within arms reach has the ability to write a number to the SIM, I set the number and now the N1 is showing the number correctly and my picture is showing up in the contacts! Thanks very much guys. Edited July 14, 2010 by stevenz
Guest JonnyRockets Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Is there any way to edit the number on the SIM card without another phone? I don't have access to any other phones. Does anyone know of a way?

Does anyone know of a way? Take it into a phone store maybe? Looks like Android doesn't support that functionality, so another phone or a dedicated SIM reader/writer (which are usually cheap) may be your only option.
