Thanks. In your review you said that there is no search button which was wrong ;) I think you haven't notice yet, but the left menu button also doubles as a search function if you hold it down. As for the absence of trackball, and the need of tapping the place you need to go to, especially in text editing, you have 2 choices, holding down the "?123" button in Samsung Keypad mode or simply a quick left to right swipe on the "SYM" button in Swype mode will trigger the directional keypad along with some text editing tools. Pretty nifty :D Now let me continue reading the review ....Cheers! Edited July 14, 2010 by gravityz3r0
Guest SBVerlee Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) Hi guys, In just finished my Galaxy S review and would appreciate any constructive feedback  http://hemorrdroids.net/?p=528 It might also be useful for anyone trying to decide on buying one. Thanks. It generally is a good in-depth review, but there's one flaw: I honestly think that you are wrong about the camera. It looks like there was a finger-smudge on the lens when you took the pictures. All the pics i have made aren't as soft as the ones you show in your review. (i know what i'm talking about, as a photographer) Edited July 14, 2010 by SBVerlee
Guest AndyCr15 Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Yeah, possibly. I was real surprised when I looked at those results. I guess I should have delved further into why... I've just updated the review with a GPS test and a little more on the bottom of 'software'.

Well, technically, you're both correct. There is no search button on the Galaxy S. Most Android phones I've owned have four physical or capacitive buttons (Home, Menu, Search, Back). The Galaxy S clearly only has two physical/capacitive buttons (Menu and Back). While holding the menu button will bring up a set of optiions that include search as one of them, this is standard Android menu (at least on my EVO 4G and Nexus One). While this gets you to search, it's an extra step to get there over other Android phones. My preference would be to have the all Android phones have a standard of 4 buttons IN THE SAME LAYOUT for consistency from phone to phone's sake. At least the Galaxy S, which really looks like it's trying to be an iPhone has the two buttons in additon to the big button (iPhone-esque big button). Pretty nifty  Now that is pretty nifty, and a great tip. I had no clue about that directional keypad. That will come in very handy. I still think the iPhone has the strong edge in text selection and editing, but this will make it less frustrating on the Android phones that don't have a trackball. Thanks! That said, I really miss the trackball from my Nexus One on the Galaxy S. The ability to map the camera trigger to it made the camera much more user friendly trying to take pictures in a hurry. The multi colored flashing for different notifications pretty awesome too.
