Guest JimJam707 Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 :'( I really want my Pulse but it's been canceled :'(
Guest david_dawkins Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Excellent news, we all just became owners of collectable phones, we can advertise them on ebay as "rare collector pieces".

Guest Simon O Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) :'( I really want my Pulse but it's been canceled :'( Was it going to be pay as you go or contract? Edit: If it was payg then you can buy one in excellent condition from CEX for £90 providing you have one close to you with them in stock. Get a free T-Mobile PAYG sim, top up £10 to get the free SMS messages then use the code 6MONTHFREEWEB to 441 to get the free internet. If the code doesn't work (happened to me) then follow @TmobileUKhelp on Twitter and send them a message. They added the free internet to my phone straight away. I bought my Pulse used for £90. Better than spending £150 on it! Oh and I have 6months warranty left. It was transferable  Edited July 14, 2010 by flibblesan

Guest Simon O Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Twas on Contract. Ah, in that case then get the Samsung Galaxy Portal i5700 then. 800MHz CPU, 256Mb RAM, 180Mb phone storage. I'd say it would be a worthy Pulse replacement. The Samsung forum here is a bit dead but there is a big community at http://forum.samdroid.net/f9/
Guest Shuflie Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 I have my pulse boxed away since the start of the year when I got my Nexus One. If they're getting collectible I might just stick it on ebay and see what they go for now.

I still rather have a pulse but, hey. I'll get a i5700. They're quite good.

If you are really hell-bent on getting a Pulse then I may swap mine for the Spica  Are you allowed to swap / sell a contract phone before the end though? Plus I'm not sure how a swap is made i.e. I send my pulse to you you disappear off the face of the earth :D

Don't worry, I'll still be lurking these here forums.

From what I've read elsewhere then you have full ownership of the phone from the day you start the contract ... even if the phone is free. So, so long as you maintain the monthly payments as per contract (or, if an option, pay a penalty to termiante it ealy) then I think you can do whatever you want with the phone. Plus I'm not sure how a swap is made i.e. I send my pulse to you you disappear off the face of the earth :D That's more likely to be the problem depending on how trusting or otherwise you are!
Guest Samlock Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Let me know how the i5700 turns out, been tempted by one myself for a while now, I get the feeling my Pulse USB port is about to break again

Guest tabor56 Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 I like the look of the white Galaxy portal

Guest phildrip Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 More expensive, but I just plumped for a Samung Galaxy S on ebay. The screen blows my mind, it's absolutely gorgeous.

I mean something for around 200 EURO with large screen and maybe more memory/CPU?

I mean something for around 200 EURO with large screen and maybe more memory/CPU? Yep. ZTE Racer and the ZTE Blade are two great Pulse-like alternatives. Specs: ZTE Racer: CPU: Qualcomm MSM7227 600MHz RAM: 256MB ROM: 256MB Display: 240x320 65k, resistive FM Radio, bluetooth, gps Android 2.1 can't find much more right now, and nothing about the Blade  The ZTE Racer is exclusive to 3 and will be it's main budget Android phone in Europe. It's currently £15 a month contract or £109 PAYG. I've had a look at a mock-up as the local 3 store doesn't have any real ones yet.

Wildfire  Yeah.. I donno ;)

So far i enjoy my pulse, but to be a good businessman i should sell it by the end of year not to loose money.
Guest Speckles Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 320x240? I thought the Pulse was 320 x 480, which I'd consider the minimum, but if not, I stand corrected.
Guest aidanj Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 (edited) my problem with thione is the same as with spica: the poor screen compared to pulse. today I played withva spica, its also resistive sccreen is terrible - it is worse than Pulse with 1.5, not to mention the performance of our screen with 2.1. eh? the spica has a capacitive screen, though it's not a very good one, in my view. mainly for texting, though that could be due to samsung's keyboard. anyway, there's nothing wrong with a GOOD resistive screen - resistive is more accurate than capacitive. just because a display may be capacitive, doesn't mean it's going to be a good display. and speckles, the pulse's resolution is indeed 320 x 480 - i'd never buy a phone with a 3.5" screen that has a qvga resolution  Edited July 15, 2010 by aidanj
