Guest Harroguk Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Hi guys, I have been looking at moving to a stock Android 2.2 ROM however after using it for a day or two I realised that I actually miss the HTC Friend Stream widget. Does anyone know of a suitable replacement for this widget? Thanks Harroguk
Guest howlep Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 i just use the standard twitter and facebook widgets - the two of them fit on one screen
Guest Harroguk Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 i just use the standard twitter and facebook widgets - the two of them fit on one screen Last time I tried the official FB widget it only showed the last update. I like the fact that Friend Stream shows all of them and is easilly scrollable.

Guest The_IMF Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Pure Messenger Widget will do it for you. Both in the same stream... not as good as friendstream though.

Yeah, I took a quick look at this and discovered that it isnt scrollable unless you run a custom homescreen app too. If I wanted that I would just stick with Sense  Also the scrolling seemed to be a bit laggy at times.

Yeah I was in your situation too... tried it for about 2 days but I just can't live without Friendstream! It seemed to scroll alright with Launcher2 from what I remember...
Guest Asselberghs Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 HootSuite does the trick but it´s missing a widget:(
Guest DiscoHero Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 TweetDeck will show Twitter and FB in the same timeline.

Guest Sleepydude Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 (edited) Launcher Pro Plus, if you buy the full version, has an excellent friends widget (and other widgets like calendar). I highly recommend it, best launcher app out there IMO. Edited October 20, 2010 by Sleepydude
Guest DiscoHero Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 does it have a widget? There are three widgets. None quite like friend stream though as it will show last 2 updates only, not scrollable with quick launch button. The app's timeline itself is just like FS.

Guest BashyUK Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Any screenshots of either of the alternatives?
Guest Zarch1972 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Any screenshots of either of the alternatives? The widgets aren't that great imho on TweetDeck, but the app itself is wonderful. http://www.tweetdeck.com/android/

Agreed, I used to like having the FriendStream widget up all the time.... but i'm now a TweetDeck convert and don't mind tapping to fetch it up..... its near on instant as it runs in background.

Guest BashyUK Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Because of TD I'm ready/happy to try a non-Sense ROM, am thinking DeFrost...any experience with this? If TD had a full screen widget like FS, that for me would make it perfect as I like to use the FB and Tw for Android apps as well anyway. But as in earlier posts, I don't mind having to clcik through to TD, it's on my Home anyway.

They seem to welcome comments and suggestions: http://support.tweetdeck.com/categories/2025-android Might be worth a suggestion about the full screen widget??
Guest RODNiC Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 What I can't figure out from some people is... Why go Stock Android and then install a different launcher? I Been using Sense most of the time. l went Stock Android, tried different Home Apps.. to then end up again on Sense due to HTC's Widgets.. My Opinion: If U use HTC's Widgets, just stay with Sense.. it's still the best most stable Home App you can get

Having the choice is why I made three choices:Android. Desire. Root. Granted maybe I will come to the opinion also that Sense is as good as it gets but I'd like to come to that decision myself. Just like everything else in life! When I used adw I loved it all apart from the lack of a FS equivalent. Now I feel I have that I can drop Sense for a bit. Or a long time. Who knows. Oh the mysteries of life :P
