Hey,

I do not understand why, but the error message in the title appeared a few days ago as I wanted to restore a nandroid backup...

In the past everything worked fine, I made a backup from VillainRom 12 and changed to ChocolateRom1.1r2, but the way back does not work anymore.

I am using RA-hero-v1.6.2a.

In the internet I found a "how to" how to fix this problem:

http://www.androidpit.de/de/android/wiki/v...via_adb!%22 --> in german

http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...ndroid-restore/ --> and the howto from this forum

But it does not work both ways.

Pls help, really need this backup, otherwise all my contacts are away.....

P.S. In the attatchement you can see my screenshot and where the error message comes...!post-615764-1279320936_thumb.png

Have you tried restoring the nandroid backup via your phone's recovery, if your having errors, try booting up like normal, powering off and then booting into recovery then try restoring the backup..

Over the phone's recovery was the first thing I tried, as always,

but this way did not work, then I tried it over adb,

booting up like normal, powering off and then restoring the backup does not work either....

I've got the exact same problem restoring a backup on RA 1.6.2.. could it be a bad recovery flash or a bad SD?

but in the past everything worked fine.

Maybe I should add that I have a 8gb class 4 microsd card which has an ext4 partition.

Shall I format the sd card, deleting all my partitions on it and then try to recover?

pls help, I really need my old rom with all data on it !!

i had this once, it was because the battery was low, when i plugged the phone in the restore worked. Might not be the same problem for you though?

From Amon-RAs thread over at XDA on the 1.6.2 version:

"For those with ext4 issues, try running this in shell":

tune2fs -E test_fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p2

I had to do this to CREATE a nandroid backup when I had an ext4 partition.

Edit: And why don't sync your contacts with google? If I change ROM, all my contacts are connected to my gmail account, and they all get automagically synced to my phone when I switch ROM. I don't have to do anything other than log into my gmail account. Takes a short time, and all my contacts are back.
