Guest buggle Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 Hi. I think that you know , as me, the rumor about the crazies requirements for the 3.0 version of android. But as i have said in the title, can we have ONE chance to be updated in this android's version in our favorite device? 1°) The screen Our device has a 3.5 inches screen. We know that 3.0 version requires a 3.5 inches screen too. Up to now, we are inside the requirements. 2°) The CPU The acer liquid has a Qualcomm SnapDragon 8250 CPU set in a frequency of 1Ghz. But for thermic and energy consumption reason, the processing unit is under clocked in a frequency of 768Mhz. According to the rumor, the 3.0 version would require a frequency of 1Ghz. Acer won't want to launch an update witch will set the CPU frequency over the frequency that they set for damage risk reasons. So if the version of android is made for acer liquid, that won't be made officially by acer. 3°) The Random Access Memory We know that the RAM requirements for the android's next version are 512mb. Bad news, this mobile device has only 256mb of RAM capacity. We are eliminated Conclusion: The only hope is that this requirements are only a rumor. Let's hope that this is false because if this is true, the acer liquid will be quickly obsolete. I've not made this topic to inform you of this new (i think that you have made the same calculations as me), but I've made this topic to launch the debate about this ideas. PS: Excuse me for my errors in the English language, I'm French.
Guest Rajit Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 (edited) 512 mb ram and 1ghz proc are the recommended requirements and not the minimum requirements (liquid is capable of running it).. so,no word out on whether acer would provide an official update,.. but who knows, someday we might just find gingerbread on our phones.. the thing to consider is that we don't even have 2.2 confirmation, so thinking about 3.0 seems like a long shot. Guest dennerjw Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 The liquid e is getting 2. 2... but it has 512 mb of RAM.
Guest Brunkarn Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 I'm selling my liquid when 3.0 is coming out
Guest VooDoo7mx Posted July 17, 2010 Report Posted July 17, 2010 There are no no minimum requirements nor recommended requirements for Android 3.0. Some stupid idiots spread this ridiculous rumor and Google already denied it.
Guest three_pineapples Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 haha. Funny thread. The liquid is going nowhere. It is a crap phone with a underclocked CPU (because Acer were cheap and used sub-standard snapdragon chips to save money, hence why they are unstable at 1GHz). It barely has enough ram for 2.1 (though the liquid e is better) and Acer suck at releasing new roms. It is highly unlikely that we would even have Froyo on the liquid e before gingerbread is released. The screen is still insensitive around the edges (it's still bad even after they "fixed" it) and the screen in insensitive in general. Ditch the liquid and import a nexus one from the US (use Comgateway as a forwarding comany). At least then you get the benefit of immediate support from google for new android versions, and you have the community support from people like cyanogen. I mean Cyanogen still manages to get Froyo on the 2 year old HTC Dream! The nexus one looks like it will be a good long term phone (only problem is the multitouch issues, but i don't really care about that!)

No offense, but should you really be bashing the liquid in the liquid forum? The fact is, nobody knows for sure when or if updates are coming. And all we can do is wait. A Rogers rep has confirmed on the Rogers redboard that the e will be getting 2. 2, we just don't know how soon that will be. Until we get some real info about anything new, all we can do is speculate. And most people have liquids for their inexpensive cost and therefore have no problem with the few flaws it has.

If you do not like it - pay 100-200$ more and get somehting better, HTC phones suck in terms of updating as well. HTC keeps lying about the release dates of new ROMs to their customers. 2. This is completely useless thread, and it like 3rd or 4th time something like this is opened in a new thread. We do not even have working 2.2. How do you suppose to get 3.0 ???? Aside of minimal system requirements (that are not met) there is a lot of problems with driver compatibility. Acer like othe companies wants to sell phones not to spend money to update the old ones. And by the way - you would do the same unless you are Mother Theresa. 3. +1 for denying (banning) everyone to post new threads for one month if useless thread like this is opened.
Guest buggle Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 What is the most strange is that the 2.2 update, the androphones calculations power is 450% higher! So if the requirements are as high, we won't imagine what we will be able to do with this version!

Guest gengaro86 Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 EDIT : I have an Android 3,14159265 leak, You fool, that's not Gingerbread but Half-of-a-circle, Gingerbread is plain 3.0. (Notice how H is after G) (That's a joke, I swear.)
