Guest Myke Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Is it possible to display someones picture when they are calling you? thanks!
Guest lutzh Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Is it possible that you use the search before you post? :-) No, its not possible in the moment since there is no application for SPV that can do that. Cheers, Lutz
Guest Myke Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 that was the best feature of my t68i !!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest lutzh Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 I miss that too, know it from the P 800 and always loved to see the ugly face of my boss, when he called me. Now, relax - I am shure, we will have this for the SPV quickly, since there is a application for Pocket PC 2002 it won't be that long, till there is one for the SPV... Cheers, Lutz
Guest MBoden Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 Dont panic, someone might make it for the SPV soon ;-)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 Ohh I wonder who that might be???? :) Good luck
Guest yatpeak Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 That'd be great, but wouldn't that require signing by orange so that it could have access to the radio functions? Wyatt
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Why would it need privelidged access?
Guest Gorskar Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Yea, it doesn't make calls itself, all it would need to do is maintain a database containing a few photos, and linking them to names/numbers in your contact list. Then it watches when a call is made or received, and if the person on the other end matches a person you have a photo for it pops up a picture. Presumably it would need to be in the startup folder, and running in the background though, so it would have to be light on resource usage. (says me who knows nothing about programming)
Guest Bazz Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Yeah, but how easy is it to get the incoming number? Maybe that's why you need access to the radio part of the phone. Just guessing here as I've no idea. Then I again I don't really care about this feature and can't really see the reason behind the massive outcry over it. It would be a nice extra, but it doesn't really improve the functionality of the phone (and will probably just slow it down). I probably wouldn't use it even if I did have it. Learn to read and you'll soon see who the call is from. It's the same with people wanting to change the start-up screen. It's on the screen for a few seconds, why bother? Just my, usual opinionated, $0.02 worth!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Heheh, i've never seen the point myself either really. Maybe it does need priviliged access to listen for privilidged "event's". I'm not sure, one arguement could be if it can pop up a picture with unprivilidged access then thy can't it answer it too (therefore incurring extra charges etc and that being the point of locking the privilidged area down), or are the specific event calls individually desegnated as privilidged or unprivilidged?
Guest MBoden Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 From the research I've been doing I should be able to pull this off without messing with the priviledge functions......I think ;-)
Guest J1A1H Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 PLEASE TRY!!! Although other people might not want it. Loads of other people think it would be amazin to have it. PLEASE TRY THANKS
Guest lutzh Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 ... I'll definitly pay for this app!!! Cheers, Lutz
Guest meaks Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 I think it would be definately worth having as long as it didnt slow the phone down so much that you couldnt answer the call !
Guest lutzh Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 yeah, shure, thats a basic need of this application. otherwise I can rename my phone in something like "a-thing-that-shows-me-that-someone-wants-to-talk-to-me-so-I-better-run-for-a-phone-to-ring-him-back".... As I said - there is an app for the XDA that does show the ugly face of the caller and it's not slowing down anything.... Cheers, Lutz
