Rooting/Flashing Question

Hi All,

New to this forum but just signed up for a MoDaCo subscription. Got my Desire two weeks ago and love it- but want it to be more open.

Quick question really, am wanting to get a Froyo custom ROM onto my phone but wondering whether my settings, e.g. my contacts, calendar etc will be wiped with the flash?

Also, can anyone confirm whether the most appropriate (for my flashing quest) guide is this one..

Just grab the Linux version of unrevoked3 from the mentioned website http://unrevoked.com/recovery/ and ignore the HTC Sync/driver stuff from the howto

Main question I need to answer now is whether I'll lose my contacts, settings etc when I flash? Any ideas?

Flashing using only unrevoked3 won't wipe your data as it only flash the recovery partition (and add root apps to /system). That's the main advantage of that rooting method over the "old" one

Thanks to all that responded... now have a rooted/flashed Desire running 2.2 r5 (Pauls)
