Guest Dona' Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 Hi everybody, Good news ... According to a french website Froyo should be available on Liquid E (but it shouldn't be too hard to port to our Liquid, I'm sure our devs will do it ) in October. Sources : http://goo.gl/FjE2 and http://goo.gl/Xv2D Translated : http://goo.gl/itRc and http://goo.gl/eqOz Let's hope we can trust this ...
Guest HustlinDaily Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 Wasn't Eclair promised in March? Hopefully this doesn't turn into another that.
Guest Piter1225 Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 Wasn't Eclair promised in March? Hopefully this doesn't turn into another that. So lets count: March - July = 4 months October + 4 months = February 2011 I wish good luck
Guest alan090 Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 I wish for the new year! yes - the liquid e was released in may - so then eclair was officially available after that hope to see a liquid F soon ;D
Guest xaueious Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 (edited) October is so far away. Common! Acer doesn't even customize anything. It doesn't take 3 months for a company like that to do an AOSP Eclair build... Edited July 19, 2010 by xaueious
Guest jayziac Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 Froyo should be quicker since it's going from 2.1 to 2.2, Eclair took longer because of going to 1.6 to 2.1 required more changes.
Guest Down to earth Swede Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 Froyo should be quicker since it's going from 2.1 to 2.2, Eclair took longer because of going to 1.6 to 2.1 required more changes. hahaha! That is just a number that is choosen for the update, it doesn't say how big the change will be "under the hood". And anyway, I don't think that matter too much, Acer had the 2.1 source code available, it was a matter of adapting it to the things that were specific to the phone that probably took some time and that thing won't change this time either... And, by the way, for a time donut was actually called 2.0 before google changed their mind and called it 1.6. So it is just a numbers game...
Guest Edward.W Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 Better than nothing  If it does true
Guest LoganX78 Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 So lets count: March - July = 4 months October + 4 months = February 2011 I wish good luck Piter we had first leak in february... I have eclair on my Liquid since April anyway :D

So it is just a numbers game... well... from what i think to have understood, in 2.1 there are some "hardware" related changes , instead in 2.2 it's more "software" related, then 2.2 could eventually come quicker... or maybe I have understood nothing
Guest HustlinDaily Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 According to Acer Facebook, it will be released in November.
Guest Rajit Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 (edited) great news!!! and if they do manage to release a froyo this year.. acer would gain my full confidence... in future if i buy a phone, i won't hesitate in going for an acer Edited July 28, 2010 by Rajit
Guest Edward.W Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 The reaction of Acer seems to be more active now, just after they released the 2.1 update.
Guest Baspar Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 You can read french? xD There's more french people here than you can think :(
