Guest kimocal Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 To anyone who has the streak and USB cable, anyway you can check to see if the USB cable uses the PDMI standard pins? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDMI
Guest fards Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 To anyone who has the streak and USB cable, anyway you can check to see if the USB cable uses the PDMI standard pins? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDMI whats an easy way of checking it? At the price of these cables, I don't really fancy cutting it into pieces  definitely looks like it, although doesn't have the logo, or reference to it. It certainly charges very quickly using it.
Guest courtlandre Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 Definitely looks like the same cable including the little notches ob the right and left. There a way to tell for sure?
Guest kimocal Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 (edited) Definitely looks like the same cable including the little notches ob the right and left. There a way to tell for sure? Possibly checking the USB +5V and GND (pins 1 & 2) may be the easiest if you have a volt meter. Finding the corresponding pins 8,9 & 10 on the streak to see if those are the analog audio outs. Don't know if you need something to trigger that on the streak. Pins 1 & 2 on the cable would be quick and easy initial check. Edited July 20, 2010 by kimocal
Guest courtlandre Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 Post here about it... but they havent gotten very far. I dont have a volt meter and have no access to one.
Guest Shauneh Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 I could test with mine tomorrow, might be a bit hard hitting the pins might use a needle taped to the larger testing rods. Don't know if rod is the right word lol, anyway... any advice on what pins I should bridge with my multimeter? Thanks, Shauneh

LOL, yeah I'm NorCal on that forum. I X-posted on XDA too. Casting a wide net trying to get the most responses  Edited July 20, 2010 by kimocal
Guest courtlandre Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 Anyone know where to buy a PDMI cable? Nobody seems to actually sell them.
Guest kimocal Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 (edited) Anyone know where to buy a PDMI cable? Nobody seems to actually sell them. I searched a bit earlier and found very little. That may be due to this new standard just recently being adopted (Feb 2010). Went to Monoprice and chatted with the sales person and they have no idea if they will be getting any (PDMI or STREAK cables). Linuxslate on the Pocketables forum came across a PDF here about DisplayPort. Might be a good place to start, REF page 74 thru 76. Edited July 20, 2010 by kimocal
Guest Dunhamzzz Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 I have access to everything needed, what would I need to do exactly?
Guest kimocal Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 (edited) I have access to everything needed, what would I need to do exactly? Download the PDF from the link above for REF. (10.2 MB) Look at pages 73 thru 76. If your meter has a continuity checker, test the ground on the USB cable (REF HERE) and then Pin # 2 on the PDMI end. 5V on the usb end and then Pin 1 on the PDMI. Since you have the home dock too you could possibly check continuity on some of the pins on the dock and the corresponding items (USB GND, USB 5V, Analog Stereo Audio, etc). Look at page 76 from the REF PDF. If you are feeeling really ambitious check the HDMI pins too. REF for HDMI. If those all correspond with the PDMI REF PDF then the Streak USB cable is more than likely a PDMI cable which may lead to cheap 3rd party accessories sooner than later. I'm in the states and still waiting for it to be sold here  Edited July 22, 2010 by kimocal
Guest XsCode Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 (edited) Just checked the first 5 pins comply with the PDMI USB pins and they do... USB 1 -> PDMI 1 USB 2 -> PDMI 5 USB 3 -> PDMI 3 USB 4 -> PDMI 2 I've looked all over google but can't find a supplier of PDMI connectors :( Edited July 23, 2010 by XsCode
Guest Techneut Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Here you may find anything that you want to know, including PIN ASSIGNMENT! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDMI
Guest XsCode Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Here you may find anything that you want to know, including PIN ASSIGNMENT! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDMI Already been there, the point was that we don't 100% know if the connector is PDMI. can't find a picture or diagram anywhere of the connector end to see if it's the same

Page 76 has the pin outs for a media dock.
Guest MrCeddy Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Here is a cable fab plant in the US. Perhaps if we give them the white paper for PDMI they will fab them for us. Blue Jeans Cable
