A question regarding icons mods

Sorry if this is a silly question. I understand that with these battery percentage mods that we have to have ones for the correct framework for each rom, but im wondering why. Im not a developer so this question is really more for my curiosity but I installed the r4 percentage mod on the r5 when r5 was first released, it worked but what were the potential problems that could have caused me?

( and in case anyone wonders, I am using the correct one now)

I was wondering the same thing, as I used the super circle mod(?), older version on the new R5, didn't seem to affect it in any way and just made it look good, though I'm pretty gutted that the battery has been getting rinsed since the Froyo update, though I imagine that's because I haven't put the phone down since installing it earlier on XD

yeh your doing the same as i was. But I remember reading somewhere that using different framework could mess with the battery calibration values (??) but I cant find the post so im wondering if anyone could give an explanation
