Any work around for the FOTA error?

I am on 3562 and would like to go to 4339 but keep getting the error.

You get half way through the uprade and then this error pops up:

"FOTA model mismatch. Rebooting in 30 seconds."

Make sure your using the correct firmware link

If you're in austin I presume you got one of the betas, in which case you need the _00 link

I think the FOTA error means that the baseband or something is off. I'm trying to downgrade to at&t 1.6 from o2 2.1 and I think the error is coming from my baseband being the 21 and not the 31. I'm still looking around this is just a theory.

Flash the recovery (via fastboot) for the rom your are trying to flash.

Ran into this issue when i first got my streak and i solved it by downloading the correct recovery image from the stickies on this site and flashing it via fastboot

fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery_name_here.img

Then after its flashed boot into that recovery holding both volume buttons and then select 2 and make sure your update.pkg is on the root of your storage card and you should be good to go.

Hey fone, I'm actually following your instructions on xda, so I'm not using the recovery for the 6601 because it doesn't work haha. I've flashed the recovery.stock.new.img for the 4399 and carefully placed and re-placed again the files in /system and flashed the boot.img (does /system need to be mounted rw when boot.img is flashed?) and I'm still getting FOTA mismatches. I don't trust fastboot because it doesn't seem to always flash my images like it says it does for me, but I've been using flash_image recovery||boot to flash them.

Have you figured out what the error actually means? What exactly is not matched, is it baseband or is it because the recovery doesn't match the ROM or what?
