Guest N1Martian Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 I was doing some research for my upcoming travel and found exactly the information I was looking for. I thought some of you might find it educational. Plagiarized from Wikipedia: As of March 16, 2010, there are two versions of the Nexus One... On both phones, the GSM radio frequencies covered are 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 1900 MHz. The original Nexus One [uS - T-Mobile] also came along with UMTS frequency bands 1 (2100 MHz), 4 (1700 MHz), and 8 (900 MHz).... The second version of the Nexus One [uS - At&t] supports UMTS frequency bands 1 (2100 MHz), 2 (1900 MHz), and 5 (850 MHz). [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_One#T-Mobile] In general, the various UMTS bands are deployed as follows: Band I (W-CDMA 2100) in Europe, India, Africa, Asia, Australia (all carriers' metropolitan networks), New Zealand (ITU Region 1) and Brazil (part of ITU Region 2) Band II (W-CDMA 1900) in North America and South America (ITU Region 2) Band IV (W-CDMA 1700 or Advanced Wireless Services) in the United States (T-Mobile USA) and Canada (WIND Mobile, Mobilicity and Vidéotron) Band V (W-CDMA 850) in Australia (Telstra NextG Network), New Zealand (XT Mobile Network), Brazil, Canada, the USA, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Venezuela, other parts of South America, Israel[2], parts of Asia (ITU Region 2 and ITU Region 3), Poland Band VIII (W-CDMA 900) in Europe, Asia, Australia (Optus and Vodafone regional/country 3G networks), New Zealand (ITU Region 1 and ITU Region 3), and Venezuela (Digitel GSM) [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands] And finally, you can compare these numbers with this website [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UMTS_networks] to find a compatible carrier in each country. Bottom line: The At&t version can get 3G pretty much anywhere in the world except Micronesia, Palau, a few carriers in Canada, and T-mobile US. The T-mobile version can get 3G in every country except the entire continent of South America (save Brazil, Uraguay, and DR).

I was thinking about traveling in Europe sometime soon and you just saved me some time. Thanks!
