Guest gravityz3r0 Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 (edited) 1. Do they actually cut off the entire internet connection completely (according to user settings)? Or 2. do they actually disable only the 3G/HSDPA connection, such that they phone is forced to the old 2G GPRS/EDGE speed? If it's case 1, is there any program that could toggle "Force 2G" connection when the phone is idle/screen off? Would be much better compared to just cutting off the internet connection completely. And no, im not talking about widgets that takes you directly to the Mobile Network setting. I wanted it to be automated. Edited July 21, 2010 by gravityz3r0
Guest Igniztion Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 They change the APN settings so that the phone doesn't manage to connect to the internet via your operator (at least this is what APNDroid does), so 1 is correct. As far as I know, such an app doesn't exist, and it would most certainly require a rooted phone to work. It's a good idea though

It's a good idea though By the way, you need to be careful with these 'unexisiting' or 'incorrect' APNs which APNDriod seems to use. Some providers (at least here here in Russia) by default use the option "Internet access via unconfigured phone". So if you use wrong APN the connection will still work and they will charge you ridiculously (like US $10-$15 per 1 megabyte!) Check with your provider in advance.
