Guest gillebob Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 Unplugged it at 9 this morning, made two 2 minute calls, 3g wifi bluetooth all off, and it was at 21% at 3 this aft', when i checked battery usage it said the browser had used 41% but i hadn't been near the browser all day and as i said all connection were off, checked the "net counter" and there had been no data usage indicated there either, use this as my only phone and dont want to have to carry a spare, any ideas?

I occasionally get this with Dolphin browser. Ending the task sorts it out.
Guest courtlandre Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Sometimes when tasks are left open in the background they can use lots of battery power, like a webpage that is updating.

Ive had this problem, it seems to stem fro m a webpage that constantly wants to refresh or turning off the data connections mid load of a page. Usually the browser says something like "will continue to load page when connection restored." But it seems sometimes to not give that message and constantly seek a connection to load the page, usuing a lot of battery. Therefore make sure when you turn off connections you habe a fully loaded page or force close if the message does not appear. Solved my issues.

Thanks for the replies, this sounds very plausible that the browser is trying to load/refresh with the data connections off. Uninstalled a load of shite last night and has been fine today so far, might have to reinstall an app killer just to be sure though.
Guest kupo Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Fring would occasionally and for no good reason murder my battery. Uninstalled that + it's fine :(

Guest WilhelmsBrick Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Yeah, i think everyone has this issue now and then on an android phone - myself mainly from coming from an iphone 3g I was irked at first. The multi-tasking although usually pretty good without a task manager can at times allow apps to completely kill the battery - slight annoyance its the browser considering its a main part of the phone shouldnt do this at all imo, whereas no one can help the random apps using up battery so much. Hopefully there'll be a better system in place for regulating the browser use when in the background in a future update - for the trying to connect when theres connection, not the refreshing pages as again thats user fault. This is from my streak, unplugged at eight in the morn, constant 3g and now on wifi with heavy browsing, still 25% left.
