Fair dos, I think that the platform has loads of potential for the consumer market. No surprise dell are onboard, especially given their strong existing relationship with m$.

I look forward to seeing what transpires.

Dell is a hardware maker, no reason they shouldn't make hardware. Even if it is for a different mobile platform.

I haven't seen anything really compelling about it. It has UI widgets made of large square blocks with cut-off text, and strangely blank areas. Other screenshots from other parts of the UI indicate that this holds true throughout the OS and default apps; very square and bland.

Between that, and the review stating it may fill my phone with pictures from people I barely know on Facebook or twitter... no thanks.

Give me android's UI or even the iPhone UI any day. Nice app icons & widgets nicely over attractive wallpaper, no cut-off text, no large weird blank spaces, and curved UI elements.

The only thing that annoys me from that review is the picture of the dell with a nice standard mini usb port.

Hi all

That device and some other smart phones where shown in the leaked Dell road map a while ago it also includes a couple of really nice Android handsets which you can check out in this link along with pictures of them

http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/22/dells-l...more-a-roundup/

From that it really looks as though Dell do intend becoming a major player in the smart phone market place and why i had no reservations about getting the Streak and believing it will be supported properly by Dell as if they do intend to be taken seriously in this market they can't afford to do anything other then offer first rate support and service or risk destroying their obvious ambitions IMHO. Some of those Android handsets look like they will give their competitors some serious competition as look stunning and appear to be built from premium materials with great specs.
