Guest Paul Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Welcome to 'Paul's App of the Day', where I pick one of my favourite apps as featured app of the day! Today's app is... HulloMail Visual Voicemail What they sayHulloMail offers a quick and easy way to manage, send, receive and share voicemails, no matter which Operator you're with. HulloMail is free and easy to use and works with most popular email accounts. Now send short voice messages, Hullos, to your friends What we say I hate VoiceMail. It's a necessary evil, but I hate the faff of phoning up, listening to it, deleting it etc. etc., and this is where HulloMail comes in. When someone leaves a voicemail in your HulloMail box (you change your diverts to point to Hullomail instead of your usual Vociemail provider), you CAN if you desire still call up to listen to it (you receive a SMS to tell you it's there). In addition however, it is sent to you as an audio file that you can listen to on your PC. If you use GMail, it is synced to your mailbox with a HulloMail label and when you delete it from your mailbox, it is deleted back at HulloMail. Add to this the HulloMail app which lets you view and playback messages on your device using your data connection and you have a real winner! Permissions ACCESS_WIFI_STATE / CALL_PHONE / CALL_PRIVILEGED / CHANGE_NETWORK_STATE / INTERNET / MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS / READ_CONTACTS / READ_PHONE_STATE / RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED / RECEIVE_SMS / RECORD_AUDIO / VIBRATE / WAKE_LOCK Download View HulloMail Visual Voicemail at AppBrain QRcode To use, install 'Barcode Scanner' from the Android Market. Price FREE Market star rating at time of writing 4.14 (248 ratings) (UK version) Version at time of writing 2.2.2 Similar / Alternative apps I don't know of any other service that offers similar features and includes both US and UK support. Suggested improvements for the next version I'd like to be able to use HulloMail with my landline (I can't currently as it requires a confirmation SMS). Have your say Fan of HulloMail Visual Voicemail? Found something better? Just wanna share your experiences? Post below! :(
Guest Koh KW Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Paul, it seems to only work in US, UK, or Ireland. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I noticed when signing up for an account. That's sad :(
Guest argh Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 I'd like to be able to use HulloMail with my landline (I can't currently as it requires a confirmation SMS). Not the perfect solution unless you already have one, but some landline phones are capable of sending and receiving text messages. I've tried it with my BT DECT phones and they work: http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/cons...o?topicId=24181
Guest badgerarc Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Been using this app for a good few months and it works great on my Uk Tmobile HTC Desire. Shame we still can't have Google Voice in the UK yet, even though I've had the invite, but Hullomail works brilliantly in it's absence.

I had a look at hullomail and got twitchy about the information it needs etc... but I'm feeling brave and might take another look at it! :( But as soon as Google Voice hits UK i'll admit i'm going to be all over it! :(
Guest djshadow666 Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 well good app. means i can now access my voicemail for free.
Guest klutsh Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Although the app is 'free' the service is not, you pay for the diverted call that takes place to Hullo.
Guest trstn Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 Although the app is 'free' the service is not, you pay for the diverted call that takes place to Hullo. How does that work out? I mean, if I divert a call to my landline when my mobile is off, I don't pay for that, so how do we end up paying for Hullo?
Guest klutsh Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 How does that work out? I mean, if I divert a call to my landline when my mobile is off, I don't pay for that, so how do we end up paying for Hullo? Some operators do charge for the diverting a call. Check to make sure it is not reducing your free minutes, as they say this in the FAQ
Guest maverickmanny Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Is there a native app in Android that would answer the incoming calls and requests user to leave a message like the Uniden's do with landlines(native answer machines for android phones).??
