"Updated to Superuser 2.3.2.1...

P"

is no Changelog, If later a new Rom ? Thank you

It's Paul's way of forcing users to read up a little :D

...'cmon....it's not XDA here...if a post pisses someone off this someone should just read next post....what is the point in flaming people who ask maybe stupid or obvious questions?

I too would like to read a forum full of interesting infos without newbie requests....maybe these newbies are new to search as well.

Sorry for the out of topic post....I have the feeling that MoDaCo is more professional and human than XDA...I hope my feeling will persist... :-P

Don't worry i'm not spying :D

Paul could you maybe add a feature to the kitchen:

Save ROM-Profiles that it isn´t needed to reremove and readd everything again when a new ROM comes?

:D

@Paul,

First of all I am not pushing =)

I just spent my last weekend on a trip and it happened finally and again: no APN. Before the trip I always think I can enter my APN manually and this shouldn't be critical, however, during the trip, when it came to roaming, no APN brought me down. Without any connection, I couldn't find the correct settings and at last, I was disconnected from the world for 2 days. No APN problem not only exists on my usual SIM (45406), but another one too (46002).

The point is, I am going for a trip again coming weekend, the only solution for me is to downgrade to r5 and install every updated packages. (did I mention there is also no HTC Wallpapers in r5?) Not life killing, but eventually I donated for TB to save time hehehe.

I am not sure what changes regarding the APN between r8 and r5 but... if it was working in r5, why make changes?

This could make it easyer for U : APN Backup & Restore

A simple App to backup and restore APNs . The backup is stored in the /sdcard/APNBackupRestore folder.

Just want to add my 2p worth.

Just downloaded and installed R8 on my Orange HTC Desire after SIM unlock.

Have tested picture, camera, GSM, Wifi, Marketplace, browser, messaging, facebook, Rosie/Sense, Gallery 3D, and phone with not a single problem. I'm mentioning this as I've had a number of ROM's (not from MoDaCo I should add!) where video recording and messaging have been wonky. (video recording froze the device and created a constant high pitch, high volume noise from the speaker until powered off!)

Rock solid. Paul - you are to be commended; excellent ROM.

Also (as I mentioned above) the 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20 radio works fine with my Orange (UK) network. (I have seen various posts about Orange being an issue with radio updates). Signal never stronger. Performance wise I'm getting 1285 on the Quadrant Standard Edition benchmark, which is just shy of the Nexus One on Froyo and a huge jump from the stock Desire on 2.1 which is reported at 510.

Excellent build. AdFree or premium subscription worth every penny for the kitchen to get a tweaked version of this ROM.

Paul's stated that it will come someday.

I will try to backup all APNs from r5 and restore them to r8, and see if it works. I will test with my 2 SIMs in both Hong Kong and Japan later on, and give updates here again. Thanks Kas~

What do you mean? I already posted a similar message on XDA answering to a complaining dude to be kind in general and in particular with newbies..... The post produced 4 full forum pages of....hunger mixed with superiority complexes....those people take theme selfs quite seriously.

BTW.....Paul, thanks a lot for your excellent work!!

im getting generic network failture when sending out mms....is there a quick patch for it or tweaked configs?

Re-configure your APNs, they mightve just disappeared, maybe an unwanted space at the end of a certain value(if using the auto complete feature while writing the apn)

Why are my baked roms unsigned since yesterday?

I baked roms on 10.08.10 and they were signed

Did you use the "Sign update zip"-option in the kitchen?

You did'n cheack the option:

"Sign update zip

Click the image below to a ROM update zip tailored to your choices."

But if you use ClockworkMod recovery you don't need It ;-)

It's part of why i'm on a hiatus from XDA. Not as relaxed as it used to be.

Don't get me wrong, I did not have any negative intent in my reply.

I really like the atmosphere here, and i like Paul's style.

And the last R8's been doing great for days.

I'm actually hoping Paul won't update anything tomorrow or the day after.

@Paul, is there anything you can do to get DroidWall working correctly in R8?

http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=1120

Or is this something only the Droidwall dev can fix?

I'm pretty clueless about all this to technical info :D

Paul

This version linked on the above thread seems to work for openvpn well at least for me.

Are you able to include this version of the tun.ko module into the kitchen.

Given that well the current one you know doesn't work.

it works with r8 with a workaround: you need another iptables binary, ie from oclock rom.

Ghghge thanks, I was just looking at o'clock rom.

Now i have a better hint what to look for.

Wasn't planning on flashing, but now i've got test it.

Edit: looks like an amateur swap won't do the trick.

Anymore info?

And Paul, could this be an option or default to the kitchen?

Will update the tun.ko tomorrow.

Let's try and make up a list of known issues for me to fix tomorrow...

- tun.ko needs updating

- iptables needs updating

- bootscreen.zip would be useful to have option to symlink to data

- aufs system r/w option would be nice to have in kitchen

- missing apns need fixing

What else?

- Update ROM Manager

- Remove "learn more" and "setup" link

- Probably swap Maps to Brut.maps & add HTC_IME mod

- Have an option in the kitchen to NOT include stock gallery (for those who only want the 3D one)
