Guest Mike Beecham Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 This hasn't been released on Samsung-Firmwares....so I would be wary. JM1 was only released yesterday. I cant beleive they would have released another so quickly?

I cant beleive they would have released another so quickly? Not sure but the file name as it is, downloading now, will make more clarification. Anyway according to Fandroid this version make the GPS Fly..By the way any moderator here can pinned a thread for Odin Flasher and PIT file, I seeing a lot of good person is attaching those file. And all this will make our server burden.
Guest us1111 Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 (edited) Flashed it without problems. Seems a bit snappier then the M1 release. Used the 512 pit file, comming from M1 without repartitioning. Rooting also works without problems. By the way.. Swype version is 1.60.36.8940.. Is this newer then stock or M1? Guest XQC Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Would be glad if someone ran the quadrant benchmark with jm2 without the fix. Some people claim, that JM2 is just as fast as "old" firmwares with the ext4 speedfix.
Guest us1111 Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 How do you root the SGS? Very easy: http://forum.samdroid.net/f49/superuser-su...07-2010-a-1355/ In short: - Download update.zip and place it on your internal sdcard - Reboot phone with "adb reboot recovery" OR startup phone with Volume-Up + Home-key + Power - Select "flash update.zip from memory card" (or something like that) Done..
Guest Carpet3 Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 (edited) Current quadrant benchmark with jm1 installed: 900 jm2 mark: 905 no real difference on mine GPS seems better not tested it properly yet though Edited July 23, 2010 by Carpet3
Guest JuW Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Sooo.....After I had everything done with JM1, now I decided to Flash this JM2. :( Feels little snappier, than JM1 and JG5 was. Downloading from Market is faster, not much lag anymore. Gps is better, tho I haven't much tested yet..

Guest Carpet3 Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 With Jm1 the app 'this day in history' wouldn't install, with jm2 it does. Also in the samsung market the tv remote control app has appeared

Downloading from Market is faster, not much lag anymore. Gps is better, tho I haven't much tested yet.. DLNA is working perfectly for me now. Also the taskkiller app from samsung is quite o.k. All in all, samsung is getting better and better with android...
Guest JuW Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Also the taskkiller app from samsung is quite o.k. Yeah, I actually like it a lot. I trust it more, than those third party taskkillers... I have never like them so much. That samsung taskkiller widget is actually really handy and not so ugly, than many of Samsung widgets are...
Guest coldlazymo Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 i just flashed to this and now i seem to not be able to access the market. keeps saying it cant access it or i dont have a data connection, and i test it in the browser and both the wireless and 3g are working fine, anyone else gettings this issue?
Guest iLiquid Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 I can't find the Option to use 2G. Before we could find this option in mobile network settings but not anymore...
Guest SpruceyB Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 I can't find the Option to use 2G. Before we could find this option in mobile network settings but not anymore... In Mobile Network still, just renamed to GSM/WCDMA (auto mode) GSM Only WCDMA ONly GSM is 2G WCDMA is 3G This is the first firmware update I've done. Was waiting for full custom roms but grew impatient of the lag. This ROM is fantastic though, can't fault anything about it yet. So much faster than the JG3 my phone came with.
Guest us1111 Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Battery life also seems way better with M2.. So far, liking this rom a-lot!
Guest seraphine Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 That sounds nice. Gonna flash right now! Battery life also seems way better with M2.. So far, liking this rom a-lot!
Guest DistortedLoop Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 (edited) Does the voice search work in this ROM? Can you see the Google Search by Voice app in the Market with it? I can't see that app, or get voice search working in JG5 in the US. JG5 with mimocan's fix works so well for me that getting voice search back is the only thing that would make me try new ROM until Samsung comes out with something official at this point. Edit: resolved that issue somewhat, found an apk to install that restores it. Edited July 24, 2010 by DistortedLoop
Guest DistortedLoop Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Does anyone have concerns about the source of this one? The naming convention doesn't match normal Samsung Firmwares. There's a bit of discussion about it on xda. Essentially the XW doesn't correlate to any existing market code and the M doesn't correspond to any existing month that Samsung's used in the past.
Guest alkysteve Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 All the test firmwares have had XW for the market code - possibly as it's internal but there is a bit on samsung-firmwares which does have XW as a language code instead which corresponds to XW = de,en,es,fr,it,pt,tr(pl) Can't answer for the M code though both the last 2 firmwares have had it.
