HTC Sense Facebook integration - seldom works

Hi all,

Let me start of with saying I love HTC Sense, I think the ASOP builds that developers have been providing us are really good now as they're virtually bug free. I have the latest OpenDesire on a Nandroid Backup.

I do find myself going back to Sense though, for the following thing:

1. HTC Camera application offers more over stock
   
2. HTC Widgets are just awesome
   
3. I like how contacts store all social integration centrally, i.e. I can click on a contact and go straight to their Facebook photos in a gallery view
   
4. In non-sense FroYo builds, the pictures in the contact applications that come from Facebook syncing are really poor quality
   

However, I have noticed some very frustrating things about Facebook integration and I've tried everything to solve them, but can't:

1. Not all my contacts get linked with Facebook because Facebook for HTC Sense just doesn't list them, it says I have 120 friends when I have 155ish. This leads to some of my contacts unlinkable! (forcing sync doesn't work)
   
2. I added a new person to Facebook who I have in my phone, again Facebook for HTC Sense wouldn't pick this person up until I removed the account and re-added it. (I tried forcing a sync!)
   
3. Some contacts photos are poor quality, whilst others are fine.
   

I've tried clearing the data for both Facebook 1.2 and Facebook for HTC Sense via Settings -> Applications, removing and re-adding the account, removing the application access via my Facebook on my desktop PC in hope that it might clear some sort of cache.

If some of the above work, it either fixes some of the contacts I'm having issues with and then breaks syncing for a contact that was working!

Anyone finding the same?

I have been on the r4 and r5 builds and never encountered any problems with htc sense facebook sync, but today i flashed r6 (first without a wipe, then again with a full wipe to check) and I am now also missing contacts from my htc sense for facebook contacts :(

Hi mate, this was running R6 too.

However, I encountered the issue where a newly added Facebook friend wasn't being picked up until removing and adding the Facebook for HTC Sense from the sync centre in r5.

Done another full wipe and flash to see what facebook contacts would get synced and the result..

the exact same 128 contacts as previous so still missing around 50 contacts :(

I have the same issue.

I have 213 Facebook contacts and only 175 contacts will get synced.

Flashing doesn't help.

another sync prob from Facebook is when someone change something like his pic.( in 3.1) it use to switch auto but not in all the new versions .

I've had missing contacts since 3.1, but it seems much worse in 5. I'm guessing it craps out on some particular datapoint that all the missing contacts share.

Looks like none of the contacts where work name is filled in but no work location is filled in, will sync.

HTC is aware and is working on it.
