question about installing a2sd+

i have just rooted my desire and was not to sure aout installing a custom rom just now as they all have to have a some problems and the phone is too new to mess up. the main reason for the rooting is to install apps onto the sd card. if i placed the a2sd+ zip file onto the root of the sd card and installed through recovery without doing the following steps.

# Using the optical trackpad select Wipe > Wipe data/factory reset

# After this has completed do Wipe > Wipe cache

# Again, once this has completed do Wipe > Wipe Dalvik-cache

what i am afraid of is the factory wipe wiping all the pre-installed apps that came with the phone off and then i'll be stuffed.what does the wipes get rid of if its just sms and e-mail and apps then that fine. as you can tell i'm a noob in need of some help.thanks...............sudeki300
