Acer Liquid Overheating

Hi everyone.

I would like to talk about an actual experience witch will help others ones who possesses an acer liquid.

As you can know, some acer liquid overheats, and i have one of them. A week ago, i used my cell with Google maps navigation by driving. As you can know, this is a hot season. It was a sunny day. So my device have overheated. After 300 km driving, my device died because of this overheated.

I called Acer support. They asked me to send my device (Acer pay the sending) , and they will fix it. They have said that my cell won't overheat anymore. This is a rare conception problem. I will send back my device tomorrow. I hope that Acer will live up to their promesses.

If you have made this experience, can you tell me more about this? The send back time? Is the overhead problem fixed?

PS: Excuse me for my low language, I'm French.

Hello, I experiment exactly the same problem when I use the phone is my car with GPS (copilot live 8) enabled and charging on. After 10-15 min, the battery indicator of android become red.

I think that I'll also send it back to acer. Do you think I need to bring it where I bought it or directly to Acer?

You kill your cell by using it in a full power during 3 hours to be believed by acer. :(

I think that this problem is relatively rare

Liquids are vicious heat generating device. This is just Normal. Unless you underclock your device, you should live by this. For continued use of 3G, your battery will last about 3 Hours. Ever if you connect it to a car charger, the continuous use of 3G and charging will make your device hotter which will suspend charging. Since the charging is suspended, your battery will be dead anytime soon until it cools down.

Well if you will be using the Liquid for Navigation, just prepare to have only a maximum of 3hours drive. Accept that it won't charge while navigating and 3G because of overheat. It is a safety feature to avoid bricking your liquid eternally.

Or i only allow 2G DATA connection while using navigation.

I have seen on another forum that the battery is over heating because de car chercher as a higher voltage than the voltage accepted by the liquid.

yes 5volts instead of 4.

But the problem should happens fast! very fast! This is electronic.

And this is USB input, then 5v (Computer, and manufacturer 230/5v plug).

I think that inside the acer liquid, there is a voltage controller witch reduce the voltage from 5v to 4v before the energy access to the battery.

I think that the problem is not here.

xian's ROM uses underlvoltage. You can try using his ROM.

Hi everyone.

Bad news.

i sent my cell to acer-france who repaired my telephone only after 1 month.

The acer liquid still overheat.

I think that the overheat is caused by the GPS system.

Do you see how fast the satelites are found by our telephone since the 2.1 rom?

I think that the GPS take too much current and that's why the acer liquid overheat.

Do you know how to reduce the power consumption by the GPS?
