Co-Pilot Live

Off to the US for a couple of weeks soon & thought I might try Co-Pilot Live for satnav as will be doing quite a bit of driving and it's only about £20. Anybody got any experience, good or bad, of using it? Google nav is a definite no-no as the roaming charges would bankrupt me.

Running FLB 1.1 by the way.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

I like co-pilot, but is a bit slow on the pulse!

I use iGO instead copilot

Sygic MobileMaps costs a bit more (mine was 15000HUF ~= 44 pounds) last December with FullEU maps. They also have Lite version (I don't know the price though). MobileMaps costs 45 euro now assuming you need the US maps and willing to download :(

Works like a charm on my Pulse (using FLB v1.0 at he moment).

Agreed...Co-pilot is slow and buggy and takes about 15mb space as well. Sygic is fast, reliable and onl takes about 7mb of space.

Co-Pilot on my Pulse doesn't seem that slow or buggy, but looking at the SD card, it taking up 291MB of space :(

Depends on the maps you use... Mine is ~2GB with nearly all EU on it (I guess US maps are just about the same size) but erasing some maps helps a lot (only Hungary is about 15MBs).

Anyways, SD cards are cheap - but usable RAM can not be expanded...

What would you say is the lightest nav software in terms of memory usage etc (that stores maps locally)? I've been using Co-Pilot since day one but it's performance has been killing me recently

I have tried two like co-pilot, sygic, and saw friends using navigon or igo and I found sygic to be lot faster in feel than other navigation software. Obviously others may differ but it kind of makes sense as sygic takes up less memory than other s/w.

Awesome, thanks. Went ahead and got Sygic and it is indeed much lighter than Co-Pilot!

With the last update and the official 2.1 copilot does not work any more.

It dies and stays in the notification area, (as minimized) if I touch it it seems to start, I get the first screen but then it's back to minimized.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall it, no change.

Does it work with FLB-Mod?

Thanks

I had the same problem with co-pilot when I was using an older version of 2.1. The only thing I could think of was that it was just eating all available resource and was being closed.

Since I am using the FLB 1.7 Rom with Swap and Overclock, it runs fine.

If you dont want to take the plunge to changing Rom, I found it used to help to put the phone in Airplane mode and then just turn GPS on manually. You can't receive calls etc, but the phone runs a lot better.

Last time I changed my rom version I had to deactivate co-pilot, and then re-active it on the new rom, otherwise it refuses to work because of the crazy system they use to lock the license to your phone.

But on the Pulse, I find it too sluggish to use.
