Hey guys,

I just watched this video on their channel. The guy shows Dell Streak running 2.1.

Now its a good news or not but thats some news :(

damm theat was the best news ever thank there good find looks like its ready to roll out to us any day now and will get froyo later this year damm comeon dell realease me.

forget the leak its comming any day now we dont need a leak damm we can play quake 3 and all the best 3d games soon.

They've already confirmed it'll ship with 1.6 I think.

Seems odd showing a dev streak with 2.1. It's plausible that teasers like this are placed on youtube to make it ok to release 2.1 sooner and delay 2.2. I'm not aware of the differences and similarities between 2.1 and 2.2, though it could be easier to port a 1.6 streak to 2.1 than 2.2, keeping us owners happy while they hack out the bugs related to 2.2.

This is all guess work of course, however there must be a motive to releasing a video like that.

in the video, he's talking about froyo, and that the unit he's holding, is a testbed, with FROYO installed, not ECLAIR! froyo=2.2 eclair=2.1

we won't get 2.1, we'll skip directly to 2.2, thank god. I only hope they'll make sure we can get the homescreens to auto rotate. I used some launcher-replacers, but they didn't work out for me afterall. it made the phone slow and sluggish, with many forced closes. I use the standard screen now, which is much better, regarding the stability, and the workability (the portraitmode homescreen, which I prefer....) needs a workaround.

But he says 2-dot-1, which is eclair...

He mentions Froyo but the device is running 2.1, so god knows :|

he clearly says the streak in the video is running 2.1

I think he meant 2.2 when he said 2.1. Also, we wont get getting this "in a few days". Dont get your hopes up.

That's the reason I said if its a good news or a bad one..

Dell might end up releasing only 2.1 as it seems almost done in the demo and wait and see how the Streak sells before investing more on 2.2 development.. I hope I am wrong..

Dell have said on numerous occasions that they will release "the Android 2.2 over the air update (Froyo) will come later this year. We will ship Dell Streak with Android 1.6."

Last week, there was reportedly only 3% of Android phone who have official releases of 2.2 (Froyo).

So we will (possibly) be in the early few who get an official 2.2 on their device

I think we don't know and we're hoping for the best. He mentions FroYo but shows us 2.1. Direct2Dell page shows 2.1.x in a screenshot beneath the video where he mixes his words. 2.2 would be great, but I'd take 2.1 in the meantime. Short of them clarifying, all this speculation will just drive us crazy with lots of "where's 2.1/2.2?" posts until Dell say something else.

Frankly, the drivers would be nice so that we could make our own froyo ports.
