Guest 325i Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 I have currently a rooted desire and have the mondaco R3 rom with A2SD+. I am thinking of moving to the modaco froyo rom with A2SD+. 1. Will i need to make a backup of everything or can i install the new rom without deleting anything? 2. if i need a backup, what is beter, my backup pro or titanium backup. I would need something that backs up EVERYTHING and the easiest to restore. 3. On froyo, there is an option to install apps on SD. Will it be ok for me to transfer apps to the SD via the built in menu? Will it cause conflict as with A2SD+? 4. Some apps i will unable to move, is this a good way to move the rest? http://www.appbrain.com/user/imran1987/apps-on-the-phone Again, will it cause any conflicts? Thank you
Guest Diggedy Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 im no expert but ill try to help 1 : yes, if something goes wrong you may lose everything. You may be able to upgrade directly from 3.1 to r5/6. Some people have done so without issues, others havent been so lucky so its always good practice to make a backup when changing roms just in case. 2 : Ive not used backup pro but titanium does everything, but you will need the donate version for the batch restore operations 3 : as far as i know the app2sd native to froyo doesnt cause any issues with a2sd, I use a2sd+ and ive never had any issues but I dont use the native one as I dont really see the point when a2sd+ is present 4 : appbrain is a good way to move your apps but then which ones are you expecting to have trouble with? Ive had no isses moving from eclair to froyo
Guest 325i Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 Thanks, i have used MyBackup Pro to back all the apps and data. It was this link that i seen that allowed you to send to SD, http://thegreencodeblog.com/2010/06/12/how...-card-on-froyo/

It was this link that i seen that allowed you to send to SD, http://thegreencodeblog.com/2010/06/12/how...-card-on-froyo/ Hi How do i know for sure that my phone has been rooted? Unrevoked said it lost communication and my phone kinda rebooted itself at the same time. What should i look for in my phones settings to knpw it is rooted or not rooted?
Guest landwomble Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 as an alternative to backup/restore, you coudl just use appbrain to put your apps back on. your data's either in the cloud or on the SD card so that should be OK...
Guest 325i Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 Thanks, its all done now. I upgraded the rom via ROM manager and its all ok.
