Thought to share this with you people, took it from XDA:

According to Mark Moons, HTC Director Benelux, people in the Netherlands will get a notification for the froyo update.

Veel (o.a.) Tweakers kijken uit naar 2.2 met extra aandacht voor een specifieke feature.... maar 1 belangrijke wordt niet genoemd! rara...

translation: many (among others) Tweakers (dutch tech website) are looking forward to 2.2 with extra attention to a specific function (from replies on tweakers.net i deduce the a2sd function).....but 1 important one is not mentioned! who can guess it...

On this subject, something I've wondered about since putting a custom Froyo rom on my Desire is how "we" would get the official 2.2 rom onto our handsets - would the over the air update feature still work, or would we have to get hold of it separately, and install manually?

This is probably blatantly obvious to those on here, but not to me... :(

The official ROM would probably be available as a download before OTA, and since you have your desire rooted you could just use the download. Is there a reason why you would want it OTA?

A rooted phone will NOT receive OTA updates. You need to unroot first.

The updates only become availble OTA. NO downloads or RUU.

I'm sure me and many others will re-pack it as a update.zip within hours of it's release.

I'm running Paul's r3.1 custom Android 2.1 ROM right now, so would it be as simple as flashing the update.zip for me as well? (that you guys will kindly be uploading once 2.2 is officially released) :(

HTC Deutschland denied the information on its Facebook page! http://www.facebook.com/htcde?v=wall&s...2537&ref=mf

The update is still under developpement. Scheduled for "soon" but not today ...

HTC Germany is a different department of HTC though. HTC Netherlands does have this on their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/#!/htcnl

Some ppl on tweakers.net (dutch tech forum) have called with htc support. They seem to be denying there is a froyo release today. We'll just have to wait some more. Have froyo/sense on my phone already anyway :(

that HTC_NL is _not_ an official HTC Twitter account.

In an interview HTC Benelux PR manager revealed that the 2.2 update will be coming very soon.

All other information (that it would be 'today' or 'tomorrow', and for sure that it would be 'ota only') are all unconfirmed rumours.

It will be coming, but it might as well be 'end of september' (and it would still be early in my opinion). And for users running any sort of custom or rooted ROM right now, moments after the first updates will be available (OTA or through normal download) there will be rooted builds ready to flash here to try it out. And the popular custom ROMs will be making new versions with the new official 2.2 as base very soon thereafter.

Please people, don't go the same route as the 2.1 Hero update... stupid twitter posts are being copied and believed all over XDA and now modaco... while there is hardly any official proof or statement about it.

the desire is shipping in china already loaded with froyo as official rom. i dont think it wil take very long for the pthers to receive the OTA update. I dont think HTC has any more testing to do since they are shipping the Desire in china already with the 2.2. Firmware is ready, just have to send it OTA i guess.

and this china desire on 2.2 is no rumor, if u want check it for yourself on the official website htc.com and select china as country, check the specs on the desire there.

I've seen the specs on the chinese website, but I haven't seen any indication that anyone in china has actually received or will receive the desire with 2.2 any time soon. Can you actually order one and what is the delivery date?

sorry m8, dont speak chinese, just got a tip for that and used google translate to view the site. besides i dont see many people from china registered here using htc handsets running android, since htc devices were branded as something else there, ithink it was dopod. it is just recently this week that htc began selling their phones as thier own brand in china.

people from china didnt have the use for android modaco until now, since modaco doesnt support dopod devices, so probably in some time we will see people from there registering as users here at modaco as they will have htc branded phones now.

but i think one could get his hands on an HTC device from the official retailers in china as from yesterday, day they began selling under their own brand.

excuse the typos :(
