Guest spences10 Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Beautiful Widgets refreshes every 15min; but you can do a manual refresh quite quickly - why do you need to refresh every one or two minutes? it'll kill your battery
Guest spences10 Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Also found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=600959 the GenieWidget which works on 1.6 devices upwards
Guest burstatron Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Mail droid has an 'stay connect for instant notification' etc. Can also set it to a minimum of 5 minutes to poll your inboxes. Might do the trick and be more useful than weather to boot?

Id prefer a weather app solution as i like to keep all my email on my computer and if I start getting it on my phone i wont have it on my computer
Guest burstatron Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Id prefer a weather app solution as i like to keep all my email on my computer and if I start getting it on my phone i wont have it on my computer I haven't been using this app long, but seems to keep everything on the server (option to mark read / keep new) and also replicates phone deleted and phone sent items on the server. Someone may correct me but definately doesn't seem like an either/or setup. After looking through both inboxes they are identical whether they have been polled by my phone (new toy gets checked alot) or notified via msn / checked by me in a browser. Items I've read in my browser are read, appear unread on my streak, or the other way round. Deleted/sent messages have been replicated on the server. This is the closest I have found to the winmo6.1 mail prog. Can't hurt to give it a look as it seems to support fulltime connection. HTH
Guest Loconinja Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Use IMAP if you want to see your mail everywhere in sync.
Guest MrPokeylope Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Uhm... the weather doesn't actually change every two minutes. It's quite a gradual process. It takes time... Like... go stand outside for fifteen minutes and observe. :(
Guest burstatron Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Use IMAP if you want to see your mail everywhere in sync. Can't see it on the market, do you have a link? Cheers

I just asked in the vain hope I can find a better mail app. First time android user and now the novelty is wearing off I miss some apps from winmo. clunky as it was the functionality was excellent for some important basics. :( Edit: sorry for thread drift Edited July 31, 2010 by burstatron

Guest Metoo Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 (edited) Thought so. I just asked in the vain hope I can find a better mail app. First time android user and now the novelty is wearing off I miss some apps from winmo. clunky as it was the functionality was excellent for some important basics. :( Edit: sorry for thread drift Most things you did in WM you can do in Android. You just need to do some research. You need to check with your email provider whether they support IMAP. If not, switch to one that does (e.g. GMail [1]). It's far more efficient than POP3 and means your emails (and their read status) is always kept in sync no matter where, or on what device, you read them. Maildroid gives you the option to keep the connection alive - you don't need to keep polling a weather app. Failing that, try a few good RSS feeds or instant messaging apps. At least they'll provide something more interesting to read than the weather. Oh, and don't forget to pack a spare battery to support all that polling! [1] If you don't want to change email address, you can still use GMail to pick up your mail from your original mailbox, and use the original address on replies, while syncing up mail to your phone. Guest gadjet110 Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 (edited) Hi vinokirk. Did you manage to get a program that keeps your internet connection live? I to have a rebel sim and it works fine on Orange, great web speeds etc, but I can't get incoming calls just a text notification of a missed call, even in 2G mode to! I guess we need aprogram that connects/checks something on the web every 1 minute to keep the connection alive. Here is hoping someone on MoDaCo can help all rebelsim owners..:) EDIT: Setup the dell streak e-mail program to check every minute, yipee I can receive incoming calss..
