Hi all.

I bought a omnia 1 year ago and had a 15 digit IMEI, at the time I checked it al the shop by pressing *#06# and it is on the note of sell (sorry my english).

Now 1 year has passed by and I entered that same code and it gives me 17 digit IMEI (has a 01 at the end).

Can someone explaine me what hapened?

Also is it possible to change the IMEI to the original one?

Thanks all

A friend of mine told me that when a cell phone has more than 15 digits on the IMEI means it is under investigation (police or Privete detective) or cloned.

Does this proceed? Does someone know something about it?

I just checked mine for the first time and it has 17 digit like yours with 01 at the end. I have been using the phone for 8 months. For me as long as it is serving the purpose of why I bought it ( to have a PDA and a phone in a little gadget) I dont care whatever the length of the IMEI number is.

If what you said about the possibility of the IMEI being under investigation I figure the investigation will be on for a very long time to come. I am not giving up my Omnia II soon !!!! Does the length of the IMEI number really matter?

I checked and my phone (i900) also has an extra 01 in the end. The lenght matters because if it's not the same as the one written on the warranty, it doesn't count any more :D

P.S. The two extra digits apparently are identifiers for the Service Provider or something like that :D Anyway, no need to worry about them - your phone isn't being investigated or anything else :)

Jesus... relax:

Wikipedia

... As of 2004, the format of the IMEI is AA-BBBBBB-CCCCCC-D, although it may not always be displayed this way. The IMEISV drops the Luhn check digit in favour of an additional two digits for the Software Version Number (SVN), making the format AA-BBBBBB-CCCCCC-EE ...

For example, the IMEI code 35-209900-176148-1 or IMEISV code 35-209900-176148-23 tells us the following:

TAC: 352099 and also known as model ratification code so it was issued by the BABT and has the allocation number 2099

FAC: 00 so it was numbered during the transition phase from the old format to the new format (described below)

SNR: 176148 - uniquely identifying a unit of this model

CD: 1 so it is a GSM Phase 2 or higher

SVN: 23 - The "software version number" identifying the revision of the software installed on the phone. 99 is reserved.
