Custom ROM's

Hi all,

While I have a Paul's custom ROM currently installed (and am quite pleased with it and should stick to it after trying other ROM's) I would like to try some other ROM's.

Probably this isn't the best place to ask, but what other ROM's are out there that are the most popular? I'm not looking for something bleeding edge or experimental, just stable and fast ROM's. I've hard about CyanogenMod and DeFrOsT, but my knowledge end there.

Any recommendations to try out?

My personal preference has always been as close to factory original as possible. This means ODEX'd and stock kernel. Currently, there is a batch of Android 2.2 ROMs that just came out, and most of them are just the way I like them: ODEX'd with stock kernel!! So I saved them, because it won't be long before they will all be de-ODEX'd (for theming, I guess).

Now I just need to get my hands on a Desire. Telus should have them out this week. I hope I will be able to root it. You never now. It might have a newer HBOOT or something.
