Guest skinnypupp Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 (edited) My Gmail isn't auto-syncing anymore, even though it is set to do so. I have to manually refresh to get it to work. This is with WiFi, plugged in, with the screen left on. This is the exact same problem I've seen on a Nexus One when it was updated to 2.2. A problem that I was never able to resolve. WTF? Guest skinnypupp Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 My 'main' account works (@gmail.com) but none of the other ones will sync in the background
Guest skinnypupp Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 I noticed that this problem occurs quite often, but not 100%. So there MUST be a fix...
Guest skinnypupp Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 I kept an eye on my log, and right when I sent an email to one of the accounts, this popped up: W/ResponseProcessCookies( 522): Cookie rejected: "[version: 0][name: GX][value: DQAAAJsAAADQe9V7lD-OqnqpXugutw9gtUwoaDaU0-4dl5wZ6PiHx1xaFkfrQtQAiw55NvcFubXuaVso-nIS2XkXu_6XBS99gLCyNoYw8-4ZMFtdactjwAOKQM2D0JrSeRT1Kp4ly76rvgKhPEkvBT9yBa81HYg902gOwFvXC0asfGs7vXisy4OTZy HlYAVnT-Ngk1GOLrqbKvNopkWrt6ynyHhWsk7][domain: mail.google.com][path: /proxy/gmail/mail][expiry: Mon Aug 16 22:45:40 GMT+08:00 2010]". Illegal domain attribute "mail.google.com". Domain of origin: "android.clients.google.com" Any thoughts?
Guest skinnypupp Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 BTW since the factory reset, NONE of my four accounts work. Before the reset, at least one of them worked. And I have cleared all data related to google services, etc, several times. I have disabled and enabled sync, etc. It is completely broken, I can't believe I am one of the few people who notice this!
Guest nobnut Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 Interesting. Be sure to let me know what happens. I want every detail please.
Guest skinnypupp Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 I'd like to know too! If possible I'd like to help people on a workaround for this, because it is quite prevalent. But I guess not enough people use multiple gmail accounts to be interested.
Guest Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 I am googling around for this issue and there are not very many complaints about it out there. Quite frustrating since it was working perfectly prior to Froyo!
Guest phlo Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 I am also facing these Problems. I do have 2 google accounts setup. The Main is only for the market (google Account) because I don't know how to move this to my Googl Apps account. The Google Apps account should be syncing mails / contacts /calendar, but the push is not working correctly. Sometimes its working well, sometimes I need to trigger the sync manually. But its more the situation its not working.

But its more the situation its not working. I've got the same issue. 4 Gmail accounts, pre-Froyo all syncing fine automatically, post update and only one (at a time!) seems to auto-sync. It almost seems random as to which one of the 4 works as it's not always the same one (although it might be the last one I played with that ends up as the working one - need to experiment further). Would also love a fix. Have seen a few people with the issue but nothing definitive to make it work yet :-(
Guest lid2000 Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 I think it's a server-side problem. I haven't flashed to the new ROM yet (been running r5), but the last day and a half it seems my Gmail sync is acting all dodgy.
Guest skinnypupp Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Here are some screenshots to describe the problem: 1) Here are my settings under Accounts & Sync. As you can see, it is correctly set up: 2) Here is the account that is working. As you can see, it syncs no problem: 3) And here is one of the accounts that is not working. As you can see, I did a manual sync last night, but haven't touched it since. So it hasn't been synced during that time:
Guest skinnypupp Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 OK just RIGHT NOW, my accounts synced. For NO reason, it just started working. Let's see if it stays that way...
Guest skinnypupp Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 10 minutes later: still working WTF
Guest skinnypupp Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 OK now the problem has taken an odd turn: Over the last day, it has been syncing TO my phone fine . But when I delete or archive on the phone, it remains unchanged on the Gmail servers.
Guest skinnypupp Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Scratch that, a test email I just sent and deleted synced up OK. But it didn't this morning. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Guest Paul.. Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Scratch that, a test email I just sent and deleted synced up OK. But it didn't this morning. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU I'm still having issues. I can sort of getting it working for a while by killing everything and re-enabling but it's def not right. The other weird thing seems to be that it's syncing and showing some 'deleted' mails, even though that label is definitely not supposed to sync. Oh, and I get the same issue as you described where even after saying it had synced it's not really :-(
Guest spammyspam Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Google recently enabled multiple accounts on web Gmail. Perhaps this has something to do with that? I seem to recall that the Gmail app only recently managed to deal with multiple accounts.

I seem to recall that the Gmail app only recently managed to deal with multiple accounts. maybe they are screwing around with it at the Google end, but given it was working perfectly on 2.1 and started going wonky as soon as I updated to 2.2 it points more to an O/S issue I'd say?
Guest litepockets Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Yup, same happening here... have 2 accounts: 1 gmail, 1 domain apps email. Neither sync automatically at all, not a random thing, just flat doesn't sync. I am getting increasingly frustrated with this "smart" phone...
Guest Eazi Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 Yup, same happening here... have 2 accounts: 1 gmail, 1 domain apps email. Neither sync automatically at all, not a random thing, just flat doesn't sync. I am getting increasingly frustrated with this "smart" phone... I'm now getting this on the official 2.2. I had no problems on r5 :)
Guest skinnypupp Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 Looks like Google FINALLY has acknowledged this problem, so I guess we'll eventually get a fix.
Guest Paul.. Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 Looks like Google FINALLY has acknowledged this problem, so I guess we'll eventually get a fix. Hmm. Let's hope so. Their advice so far is to resort to manually syncing. There's a couple of suggestions on that page around deleting accounts, data etc and reloading. Has anyone had any success with that method?
Guest skinnypupp Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 From what I can tell, none of those fixes work. For me, mine just started working literally out of nowhere. It's only partially working though - email does get pushed TO my phone now, but any changes I make (deleting, archiving) do not get pushed BACK without a manual sync (or until another email comes in)
Guest abcls Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 Hi guys, I faced this issue as well and I found the answer to this on android-hilfe.de. "To get sync working again for the additional account(s), try following these steps: 1. Press < Menu > on your device. 2. Select Settings. 3. Select Accounts & sync. 4. Select the affected account. 5. Tap the 'Sync Now' button at the bottom of the screen. Repeat these steps for other affected accounts." The original Post is from the google support hompege. It worked for me, hope for you to.
