Porting CyanogenMod

Hi,

I found this on the cyanogen mod website, which talks about building the cyanogen mod kernel and cyanogen mod yourself. I dont really understand half of whats being said, so I dont know if its a generic build for the supported devices. It does talk about customising the kernel though so this may be where we have to add the drivers and stuff for the pulse.

I dont know if this is possible or even worth trying, but I'm up for giving it a go if someones willing to help me (im not entirely sure what to do)

I had a quick look, and it does look tempting doesn't it? However I *think* the problem we'll have (as always) is the device drivers.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I don't think anyone other than Huawei can build a kernel from source that will work on our phones. Even the kernel source they released for Android 1.5 doesn't compile to a working kernel (that right, expert people?) All other ROMS rely on rebuilding/repackaging Android against a pre-built kernel sucked from official releases.

Frustrating, innit.

We will have CyanogenMod running on our Pulses someday. That is a promise!

Otherwise I'll eat my hat and upload a video to youtube :)

Would that imply Android 2.2 ?

Cyanogen runs only on HTC devices. Without drivers, and source code from 2.1 you cant port it.

The latest Cyanogenmod is based on Froyo but with a lot of modifications. We will probably get 2.2 before that.
