Guest tuatha Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 (edited) This isn't really an issue specific to me, from what I'm reading on other forums I suspect it affects all the latest Sense roms across all handsets. The issue is that when your screen switches off, the system seems to automatically throttle the wifi connection and prevents active apps from using it. This can be tested with Last.fm or Spotify. Start streaming some music, switch off your screen, and wait a minute or two. In both cases, the track will either stutter and start to skip, or it will finish the current track and won't play any further ones. You can even observe the effect in the grey 'buffer' bar on the now playing display in last.fm - note the buffer progress when you switch the screen off, then after a little while switch the screen on again. Buffering picks up almost exactly where it was when you switched the screen off. There are plenty of bug reports about it on the Spotify forums and on last.fm too, so it's not just me. So can anybody isolate the code that's causing the OS to behave this way and possibly change it? I use last.fm a lot so it's a real pain in the ass at the moment. (NB, only happens on wifi, 3G works fine) Edited August 3, 2010 by tuatha

I'm on ieftm rom from xda - 3G streaming works ok - Wifi + screen on works ok - Wifi + screen off BUT plugged into AC works ok - Wifi + screen off => drops the connection after a couple of minutes There is a similar thread on the desire general section. It really seem like a sleep issue, not a wifi sleep, but maybe a phone sleep. Edited August 4, 2010 by andycted

Yes, I can confirm that with latest Pul's ROM with enbled: Advanced - 802.11N, wifi enabled in sleep (* This option has 802.11N support and also enables WiFi when device is in sleep mode. Credit goes to Myshkinbob for this module!) - Wifi + screen on works ok - Wifi + screen off BUT plugged into AC works ok - Wifi + screen off => drops the connection after a couple of minutes

Guest Rob Watson Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I have installed spotify on my advent vega, but it drops the wifi connection after a few seconds. I have tried re-installs but stll no good. It works fine on my htc desire, so i know it is not wireless problem
