Guest Emperork Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Since updating to stock Froyo, I noticed my mobile data usage (the 2 arrows) are almost constantly transferring data. This is really hammering the battery. Turning off mobile data conserves the battery life however... but I don't know what it is about Froyo that has caused the mobile data to go so crazy! Anyone else notice this?
Guest Scutworker Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) It's not doing it on mine. I'm running a rooted stock firmware ([ROM] Rooted Official HTC Android 2.2 (FroYo) ROM [Market issue fixed] ) and this is not happening on my Desire. Have you upgraded the radio to the latest version? As for battery life, it seems to be about the same except when I use the phone when it is appears to be using more power than before. Guest spammyspam Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Using JuicePlotter, I see that my phone seems well behaved at night (it activates for a few seconds each hour), but during the day it's almost constant usage. I too have no idea why this is. I'm considering using Droidwall to as a hammer to crack this nut, but ideally some kind of application-based data usage log would be awesome.

I have the latest rooted Froyo with A2SD added, and also updated radio to latest version. My standby/idle battery drain has remained about the same (approx 1%/hr) but I've also found that the power usage has increased significantly when using the phone (approx 10-12%/hr). Assuming that it's a data upload/download issue I've turned off auto sync on all my apps - not ideal situation, but it will hopefully help me determine where the problem lies by a process of elimination.
