HTC Sync

Apologies for this guys... its probably going to be very simple solution for you but i need help....

Cant get phone to sync with laptop, when checking device manger on andriod usb devices... MY HTC... has a yellow exclamtion mark next to it. when i check properties i've got an error of ...'Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)' phome is set to sync and is searching, but it cant find software on the laptop

i've reinstalled HTC sync, tried different usb cable....tried a few websites for an answer and not got anywhere at alll.

hope you can help, this is driving me daft, all i want to do is root my desire to get froyo and get rid of all the vodafone branding i've recenetly recieved in their latest firmware update.... (which is another story all togerther)

You guys will probably have the answer straight away so i do apologise but i'm not a techie and am quite new to all this.
