Guest Simon O Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 (edited) Requirements You you need to have a custom recovery image installed. ClockworkMod Recovery is recommended. Your device MUST have had either the Hungarian T-Mobile 2.1 update, the Swedish Tre 2.1 update, or the UK T-Mobile 2.1 update installed due to partition changes. As this is based on the UK ROM support for some languages is missing from the Settings. You can switch languages by installing MoreLocale from the marketplace. ROM features: - boot.img rooted with ADB remount permissions and ChainsDD SuperUser added - Busybox and NANO - Darktremor A2SD for no-nonsense automatic A2SD - Google Maps moved to /data for easy updating - VoiceSearch support - WiFi status app - RomManager installed for easy recovery management and backups - TouchPal languages moved to /data - Barnacle Wi-Fi tether pre-installed Changelog: r2a - A2SD absolutely fixed now. I'm an idiot that forgot how to symlink. r2 - A2SD initial setup fixed. Should no longer have any permissions errors for users. apks zipaligned. r1 - initial release Installation Make sure you have a custom recovery image installed first Restart your device in recovery mode (power on with the end and menu buttons pressed). Backup your device if required from the Nandroid menu. Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card Downloads Download: r2a-update-ccr-pulse-signed.zip Known issues Force close on first boot. Click wait, and give it a minute before continuing setup. Edited August 7, 2010 by flibblesan
Guest patrick1072 Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 This may sound a silly question but ive just updated from 1.5 custom to official 2.1 then your FLB 1.3, does the FLB already have A2SD or do i have to do something else? Im new to upgrading the pulse lol

Guest Azurren Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 So is this new strain completely based off the ?new? UK kernal? :)
Guest flip360 Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 (edited) i have this rom with some modifications (framework, apps) running quite nicely, cache is on sd and i have about 80 Mb free :) one question though: i tried to add HTC_IME by jonas in data partition, and although it installs it fc`s when booted, it works when i reinstall it? is there something elese besides the.apk? how can i make it default keyboard? cheers Edited August 6, 2010 by flip360
Guest Simon O Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 So is this new strain completely based off the ?new? UK kernal? :) It's the UK rom rooted etc, just like the MoDaCo custom roms by Paul :D
Guest onawall Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 Hi, First thanks a lot for this, basic rooted 2.1 was just what I'm after. My problem though (May be really obvious and I'm missing it). I've installed the UK 2.1 then your rooted update, but Apps are still being installed to the phone and not the SD card. Does apps2sd have to be activated somewhere? I had the old recovery system but after installing your update I now have the Clockwork Recovery. I've tried partitioning the SD card through ROM manager (512mb and 0 swap) but on reboot it just stays continually on the TMobile load screen and I have to take the battery out and reflash the update.

Partitioning the SD card may have broken a2sd if it copied anything to the SD card. A2SD will use SD by default for apps but your space will go down as dalvik-cache is still on your device and over time it will go down. Old A2SD didn't report the usage correctly, the new one does.
Guest flip360 Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 This is slower. There, I said it. lol

If partitioning broke a2sd would reflashing your update not have repaired it again? If not how would I go about repairing it? I installed IGO satnav (the reason I want apps2sd as it takes up so much space) and my SD memory was 1.11gb before and after. My phone memory went from 45.73mb down to 28.22mb.

Guest onawall Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 Yeah that's well and truly broken. Did you wipe the device in recovery before installing the custom rom? I've been through it a few times now and I can't remember what I wiped each time. Should I be wiping all these options before updating? wipe data/factory reset wipe cache partition wipe the dalvik cache wipe battery stats Then there's the various format options under the partitions menu which I haven't used. Used to have to repair the SD extension on the old 1.7 modaco rom on each reboot but that option doesn't seem to be in the clockwork recovery. Don't know if that's an issue?

The UK 2.1 rom makes the sizes slightly different but this custom rom should work for all 2.1 users. All I can advise is that you install 2.1, install recovery, wipe data, dalvik and ext2 in recovery then install the custom rom.
