How do you adjust media volume when docked?

Hi gang,

I've noticed that if I use the Line Out on the desk dock, the volume control buttons only want to adjust the Ringer volume, not the media volume which you get when headphones are plugged in.

The only way I can find to adjust the media volume whilst it's docked is to go into the Sound & Display settings, then select Media Volume and then adjust the slider. Seems a bit counter-intuitive.

Anyone got any ideas how I can get it to respond to the volume buttons whilst docked?

I could be wrong, but normally a true "Line Out" port has no volume. Kinda like a docked iphone or ipod, its designed to be plugged straight into some form of receiver or speakers with volume control.

Ah, okay, that kinda makes sense, except I normally have my headphones connected to it, which don't have an inline volume control. I guess I'll have to get an extension lead with an inline volume.

By the way, there's a heck of a volume boost when going through the dock. It's way better than using the Streak's headphone socket :)

Strange, i've also read reports of the opposite (aka headphone jack has higher volume). Can you compare the noise level of the dock's line-out vs the headphone's jack ? You can ear that noise best when you press "pause" in your music player. The hissing noise will continue to play for 3-5 seconds then stop.
