Custom rom, will i lose unlocked ability?

Hi guys, thinking of going the custom rom route (MG).

I have a question..

I had my pulse mini unlocked for o2 payg sim cards, if i put a custom rom on does it mean i loose the unlock?

it was the DC unlock via software.

I just installed the r3b rom and the phone is still working on o2.
