Unrevoke + Android 1.0

Long story short is my mate broke my desire last night and today bought another one so i have a nice shinny new SLCD desire however I can't seem to get anywhere with installing the 1.0 drivers, they have been installed before since this is my second desire that i will be rooting but its just not seeing them when i update the drivers and without it i can't get the phone rooted.

another note is that i was given the ota froyo update for my AMOLED desire before and this one isn't getting it (both phones are completely sim unlocked)

I'm using Windows 7 x64 with a Striker Extreme 2 Motherboard (intel)

install HTC Sync and when it prompts for the driver, just manually point it to use the 'My HTC' driver.

That's what i've done and it works fine with unrevoked and everything else i throw at it.
