Guest WMB37 Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 Hello All I am really new, only had my HTC desire for 4 months What has prompted this post - All the orange software which is on my Desire and the fact I have to wait for the new 2.2 update (can't wait) Phone Spec Firmware - 2.1 update 1 baseband - 32.42.00.32U_4.09.00.08 Kernel - 2.6.29-54b7033a build - 1.22.61.1 software - 1.22.61.1 HBOOT 0.83. 0001 radio - 4.09.00.08 Hoped I have not missed anything : ) Anyway, what I would like to do. Remove all the orange TUT! which is on the phone, and Upgrade to 2.2 and have a phone which is not controlled by orange and their rubbish software I have been reading the forums and I am completely confused as to what I need to do, Root, not to root flash not flash!!. I have also read whatever I do could cause problems with the phone i.e not being able to text, email or connect to wifi or 3G I would be grateful if someone could provide advice on what I need to do, I had a previous desire I had to send back to orange because there was an issue with the 3G (nothing that I did) so I created a gold card from the phone before I sent it back and that was a success and could do again if needed any guidance I would be grateful wayne
Guest Delicious Docsy Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) I believe, with hboot 0.83 would mean your desire had the SLCD screen rather than the AMOLED one (someone can correct me if im wrong, it will probably state it on the box? providing it came in a full new box and not just the little replacement one)) and with this screen + hboot 0.83 previously you couldn't root your phone without the screen going blank. but i found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748618 should help you! also download http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.p...adio-signed.zip rather than using the bravo image over at xda, I used this last night and its running flawlessly. have fun! just post in here if you have queries i'll do my best to answer :) (im still new at this) Edited August 9, 2010 by Delicious Docsy
Guest WMB37 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) Thank you for all that : ) but question, how can I find out what screen I have? This is a replacement phone which came in a "slim line" box and no information and do I still need to use a gold card? Edited August 9, 2010 by WMB37
Guest Delicious Docsy Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 not sure how to tell what screen. as for a gold card i dont think it would hurt to use one on the safeside, did you see any posts about goldcards http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748618 when reading the rest of the comments?
Guest WMB37 Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Yep had a look but need to spend some more time reading which I'll do this weekend. After you did the debranding did you then get the OTA 2.2 update?
Guest ciaodown Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Any progress as of yet? I have the 0.83 HBOOT and on the Orange website it still says they are stocking AMOLED screen Desires - in the 'more information' section it says AMOLED screen.
Guest WMB37 Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 After reading about Vodaphone and the rubbish they have install into the 2.2 update and the complaints, Vodaphone are now going to release a vanilla update of the 2.2 I may wait to see what orange might do, but in saying that I may be waiting for ever at this rate
