Just got my replacement omnia after damage - rom questions

Hi all.

I've just received my omnia back from the vodafone store after it was repaired after sustaining damage. I really had hoped that they would offer me another alternative to this painfull phone but alas it was replaced like for like.

I have been using my friends spare iphone till now and it has been a joy.

I would like to ask therefore, what is the latest rom for this phone and can it be updated through Windows 7?

I take it that samsung abandened this phone long ago so a 6.5 rom is out of the question?

I tried to load MS actvesync 4.5 onto an xp netbook and it was having none of it, so i'm stuck if i cant update in W7.

All help gratefully received.

Actually, there are hundreds of Windows Mobile 6.5 and 6.5.5 roms available for the i900 and i910, you just need to look around the i900 specific rom topic, for your i900 there is even a 6.5 rom copied from the omnia lite, which uses all samsung official 6.5 apps. Also I have Windows 7 and it flashes just fine, even better than on windows xp or vista. If you want I can give you the samsung umdl that works on Windows 7. You can also flash back to 6.1 if it doesn't work for you.

With the OP having an i900 that would be a bad idea. i910 flashes differently.

good day.

Gunnar, if you could provide the link to the omnia lite rom that would be very helpful.

Also if all this does not work, is there anywhere I can download the last version of the UK 6.1 rom to flash back to?

I now have access to a machine with working XP so flashing is no problem!

I am having a hard time finding the download link for the omnia lite rom, sorry. There are tons of custom/untouched 6.5 roms for your i900. If you look at the i900 specific rom topic, you will find tons of different roms for your phone, I would get a 6.5.3 or 6.5.5 rom, and make sure you browse the thread for the one you want, to see what others say about it. for the original rom, see this, you need the free 7-zip for that file...

...I thought the samsung_umdl was generic...
