Guest behnaam Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) As my initial thread didn't get any good response, I've chosen to remove all recovering tools an instructions from my server and to stop offering support for bricked Liquids. Hope you have understanding for this, but I have a life on the side that I can't allow being put a side for this type of matters. Regards, B Hi all, I've been getting a big amount mails asking me to help people fix their bricked Liquids with helps from the Acer recovery steps and tools I got. I stated in an earlier thread that I've stopped doing such supports, but people seems to have missed that thread. So here it goes, if you've achieved a "bad brick" on your Liquids, I will offer support to fix it for 20€ which is paid via PayPal. Reason for me taking money for my services is because supporting people with bricked devices costs me server space, time, sweat & blood (that last part was overexagurated). Hope you have understanding for this. Regards, behnaam Edited August 11, 2010 by behnaam

Guest navygino Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 The passive tool still cannot be released to public? I was hoping I can get that someday.......

Guest Andy__P Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 So why not take the time to write down a guide how to fix it. If someone bothers you again, you link him to the guide and he can try to unbrick it himself? Just a thought.

The passive tool still cannot be released to public? I was hoping I can get that someday....... So why not take the time to write down a guide how to fix it. If someone bothers you again, you link him to the guide and he can try to unbrick it himself? Just a thought. Due to respect for the person that gave the tools and instructions, I will write it out in a open forum. Another reason for me not writing how it should be used is because I don't have time to reply to people saying "hey the tool screwed my phone up, idiot what should I do now? I want you to pay for it now" because they aren't cautious enough or miss-use the tool. Or to answer people's questions regarding how to do because "they dont understand". I basically don't have time supporting the thread for such instructions. And also each "brick case" varies, it may be different from each other, and for me to write about all different ways to recover and upload all the tools for that, would take too much time I'm afraid. And not everybody is a tech-savvy to understand everything I write :) I know that I sound like a big douche when writing this. but as anybody else I am a human being and have a life aside from the communities. and I just wanted to make a public announcement stating how I will do if someone consider contacting me regarding their brick issues. It's just like MoDaCo's premium services, this is a service. This is more targeted to people who don't feel like they want to send their device to Acer for repair which takes aprox. 2-4 weeks. I don't ask you to like this or agree with what I say, this is just a shutout to those who are interested in such services.
Guest uzirox Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) It's a "service" that someone in Acer has give to you while you and Angio bricked the Liquid some time ago. So basically, are you making money from something you don't own? This isn't a good move... trust me. You better say "Sry guys, I can't fix your phone!" not charging money. The same problem is here!!! Nobody wants to read what is written for them!!! They all think they are special and you HAVE to spent your time to decide their problems. uzirox boostnek9 Can you read the whole post? He is going to take money for his time, sweat & blood behnaam Just don't give a f..k about guys who can't even read an instructions, but think that everybode around just owe them!!! I have the same problem at russian forum. But I don't have a PayPal and I'm too lazy to get? so I put at my signature message for all of them: " I don't consult anybody via PM? post your question at forum? cuse it made for it" Thanks for all and good luck in your struggle.

But that's the point. Even if someone with a bricked liquid would post in the forums no one will be able to help without the magical unbrick tool and any instructions. Yes, i don't know how complicated it really is but there are many smart people in the forums who i think would be able to grasp how the tools work and could advice the maybe not-so tech-savvy guys. (someone showed it to you too once, no?) That's just my understanding of a community. Don't get me wrong behnaam, i respect you and all the work you've done for the liquid, but i don't understand why on the one hand you say you don't have the time to help everyone individually (which i do understand), yet on the other hand you don't want to share how to do it because you think people wouldn't understand. If you did, you wouldn't be the only one who's able to and maybe wouldn't get as many requests. my2c

Yea by using a tool HE DOESN'T OWN!! can you read the whole post? Sell a car you don't own or even a house you don't own.. see what happens That's like making a post :" Hey guys I downloaded a new movie, you want it? I'll burn it for 20$" C'mon

He has it and he can use it however he wants. If you can find somebody who is willing to share it for free, good. Go through them, maybe even share it with us if you want. If not, go through him for a fair price or go through Acer and wait a month.

This tool is probably a Acer only tool...he probably isn't supposed to have it so what gives him the right to make money on it? If it's not a community tool then why is this being used in a community forum? on top of that to generate revenue? I'd rather go with Acer... at least I have some sort of paper trail and it's official.. this should be free cause that's how you help communities...besides, I'm sure Acer would be glad to know the public has such a tool

Guest malez Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I really understand what Benham is explaining. I have the same problem. People don't understand that we have a real life and can't imagine the time spent on analyzing and helping. Even at night, your are still thinking and wondering what tool you will try to fix the user issue. When finally you fix, your are tired and have spent a lot of time. Maybe you could explain a little donation for the effort but be honest, people nearly never give nothing and just disappear. On your side you have spent time, even if you have a job and family. You have taken the risk loose all that just to be proud to have helped somebody. That is a really hard price to pay but you keep going on. Sometimes you reach the limits. So I understand this reaction. Unbricking must be done in live to be efficient. You take decisions depending on the phone reaction. Each case is a unique one. I will never refuse to help anybody cause of my convictions but you must know what this involves. Asking for money is the best way Benham has found to protect himself.
Guest behnaam Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) You sleeping together? why do you protect this or feel it's right? I would say there is a high level of arrogance and childishness in the posts you've made in this thread. I and no one else have in any way insulted you or given you any type of righteousness to write such a narrow-minded comment on his post. You clearly lack in knowing how to discuss things in a mature and adult way due to the comment above. As a reply to the other people saying "hey you don't own the tools -- you don't have right to use them in the way you're describing". Let me describe an example for you that might not thought about: MoDaCo offers a premium accounts for users to access their "Online Kitchen". Now for his service to work, he needs a ROM that can be cooked inside the kitchen, mostly MoDaCo's custom ROMs is based on shipping firmware. Parts of this firmware is under licenses that disallows anybody from redistributing it. The parts of the firmware is proprietary. Now for his service to works, he will need this parts so that a ROM can be built from the kitchen, and that's exactly what he does. The same thing applies for my services. I offer support for those with bricked devices, and for that to happen I need some certain tools which I'm not the "real owner" of. But in MoDaCo's case I've not seen any of you commenting about whether he is the righteous owner of the content that his ROM kitchen service uses. MoDaCo takes money for maintaining the service, so do I. Nothing different any third-party service out there. I'm not finger-pointing here, just making your eyes look at at a wider perspective. I do not demand ANYBODY to like this or to want this, I just posted it IN CASE somebody out there really is looking for a fast and easy solution for their brick. I'm well aware that it is against the "community spirit" and "sharing is caring philosophy". But to be honest, I'm pretty much fed up by people which contributed absolutely NOTHING for the community, that come and tell others about how they're not following the "community spirit". As stated in a previous reply that I made, I DO understand some people might feel hurt by this, and I respect that. But I still think anybody is allowed to have their own opinion, and we might see things differently. You know, it's easy to sit in the back seat and tell someone they can't drive, but then you have no idea what the driver might be thinking and feeling. From the situation I've been lately with all different PM's from people asking about help to unbrick, I feel like it has come to the point where it's over my "duty to the community". Hope this give you some answers to the questions popping up in your mind. Regards, B Edited August 11, 2010 by behnaam

You clearly lack in knowing how to discuss things in a mature and adult way due to the comment above. I don't write these things on here just to be arrogant you know..Or even to take a stab at you because you're right, you haven't insulted me or whatnot however I'm trying to convey a message that in my mind the service you offer should be used to help people and if you don't have time then don't post a service you have no time to attend to..instead share the tool..If you are allowed to use it and make a profit from it then you should have a license..if not then it's freeware and could be shared with tools..Say what you will but these are my thoughts. Although I'm sure you do offer a great service I just feel like this is not right. I will but out of your thread now but I hope nothing but the best for you... Good Luck
Guest asano Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Hi there :) As I could see before, what is a" bad" brick for you? Do you offer the same servive as Acer s 3yrs warranty? If you have cooked a rom, wich sometimes has been beta-tested by some community users, then yes, a beer or so is okay. But if you don t share the sources , asking 0.1, 5, 10, 20, 5000€ or so, it is not good at all. Could you immagine the possibility that some will ask money to repair a closed system they are the only owners? They have the system, they know the bugs and they sell the key... I do believe some devs are cooking rom to give more options to users, as you probably offer a good service to members that cannot wait. But this could give strange ideas in the future. Cheers :D
Guest behnaam Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Considering that many of you disagree and because I respect the "majority" of this forum and this thread, I've chosen to drop the offer and remove all tools and instructions from my server, so I can't help any out anymore. This is the best way to go. Regards, B
