where is my live wallpaper hiding?

i've just started playing with making some adroid apps and live wallpaper looked like a nice place to start... but i had a g1 which was running 1.6 so could only play with them through the emulator.

ah ha i thought, i'll get myself a pulse cos i know that's just got the 2.1 update.

so i did, it arrived today, i clicked on wallpaper and no live wallpaper.

so am i being really stupid or did the live wallpaper get missed out on this update?

and if it did get missed out then is there a custom rom thingy i can put on so i can use it?

Normally, every 2.1 ROM has live wallpapers on board.

You can also install the FLB-MOD custom ROM, which is the best 2.1 ROM out there :)

well i just got the pulse off ebay with the 2.1 already on it so maybe i'll try reinstalling and see if the live wallpaper link magically appears before dabbling in custom stuff.

just to check tho, i'm looking at menu>wallpaper is that the place it should be on the pulse?

Yap that's usually the right place.

You should then see a list where you can choose between "Pictures", "Gallery" and "Live Wallpapers".

It might be that the previous owner of the phone uninstalled the Live Wallpapers because he ran out of memory.

Just get the apk from another device and install it :)

Hmm i believe i may be becoming a bit annoying now... but are you saying that if someone unistalled all their live wallpapers then the live wallpaper option would not appear in the wallpaper menu? and that if i installed a live wallpaper apk then the option would appear?

i've just tried reinstalling the 2.1 update but still no live wallpaper option in the menu.

Yap exactly. Like it is if you install a new widget.

Hmm that is weird. Try setting the wallpaper through a long - click on the homescreen.

the wallpaper downloaded and installed, i just can't get to it/run it as i don't have the menu option.

I don't know if that will change anything, but try turning on the window and menu animations.

i'm just downloading a file browsers so i can see if i can run a live wallpaper directly. doubt that'll work but it's worth a go.

any clue what default live wallpaper came with the update? i assume if the live wallpaper functionality was included they would also add a live wallpaper to demonstrate it.

I had live wallpaper on the Hungarian 2.1 update but after loading the UK Official 2.1 it is no longer there. Looks like TMob have removed it.

Does anyone have a copy of the APK?.

i don't know if it helps but you need live wallpaper and live wallpaper picker.

more silly questions i'm sure but is the hungarian 2.1 in hungarian or anything? can i just install that in the same way as the uk one and hope i get a version with live wallpapers?

No, it works fine.

But if someone has the two apk's it would save me re-installing HU2.1

Well it looks like you are on UK 2.1, don't try to reinstall Hungarian one (it seems to be a beta release, buggy), instead I recommend you install FLB-MOD, the Live Wallpapers are back in 1.31 :)

installed the hungarian for now and badabing, i have live wallpaper. at last!

well if anyone is interested i've stuck the silly wallpaper i made up on the market. tis called bubbletasticwallpaper.ask

Theres a flashable update in another thread for the livewallpaper. Try it :)

And T-Mobile UK did the right thing by removing it. Live Wallpapers are slow on our devices.

Lulz. Try Mario Live Wallpaper. It ran OK at 7fps with no background or anything. It was very fun to watch. My phone lasted about an hour with me constantly watching the wallpaper then, sadness...
