Guest elitom Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 HI Folks I have picked up a fairly cheap i900 from ebay in the UK and it is on T-Mobile and I want to use it on O2 I have unlocked the handset and it now works with my O2 sim card but I want to put a generic / vanila Samsung ROM onto the phone. The phone is actually for my wife to use and she likes the Samsung touches such as the widgets but things like the browser seem tempremental because it is configured as web'n'walk etc and things like the Google apps are missiing So I wnat to get a generic UK Samsung ROM I have found this thread and the phone currently has the BOHH5 ROM http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...re-version-fix/ Firstly can someone point me in the right direction for the generic / vanila Samsung ROM I have tried here http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/omnia/index.jsp but this site does not recognise the BOHH5 version so will not let me download anything. Secondly can someone point me in the direction of an easy to follow flashing guide for the i900 I have flashed HTC WM handsets in the past and never had a problem but never a SAmsung on! Also how easy is it to brick the phone !!! ? thanks for any help advice and leads to the right ROM EliTom
Guest adhip Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 There are 3 type of Samsung's ROM : 1. Samsung Official ROM which contain both WM part & Radio/Phone Part which can be d/l from URL in your post above. 2. Custom Windows Mobile ROM - this will replace your WM part but Phone Part still intact. There are lots of awesome ROMs from Great chefs in this forum, just search what you like, or you can even make your own using kitchen like Vistang, OS kitchen etc. 3. Phone ROM from http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...-at-the-moment/ , we find out that Phone ROM like PUJA1, XBIC1 etc are suitable almost for every region. But I don't know about UK. Dont worry, flashing ROM on Omnia is safe. I did it more than hundred of times - basically you have to install the Samsung CDMA modem driver & Activesync (required for flashing Official ROM), however it's recommended to do it from Win XP, while for Vista & Win 7, there are some tweaking - it's available in this forum. First, I suggest you have the official Samsung ROM Updater (in your case BOHH5) as your back up, or if someday you want to sell it and need to provide default ROM. Then, just do experiment from all the 3 types of ROM above and mix them until you find the most favorable one for you.
