Guest david_dawkins Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Russian users in particular watch out for a malware media player. Frustratingly, the media player itself is unnamed: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10928070 Not Pulse specific, should be in general Android forum, but wanted to warn my pals.

Just surprised it took this long for someone to create one :) This isn't a virus or any fancy programming. It's just a malicious application. The thing is if people continue to make these the android market will turn into the Apple market (Every app needs to be verified)
Guest krfan Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Every app needs to be verified If this ever happens, is it a good thing, or a bad thing?
Guest david_dawkins Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 If this ever happens, is it a good thing, or a bad thing? A good thing. A chance to show Apple how to do it better too.
Guest Azurren Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 If this ever happens, is it a good thing, or a bad thing? Bad thing. Good bye freedom :) But it will probably have to be done sooner or later
Guest rjm2k Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Should be optional, so you can set it to only show verified apps (default) or unverified apps on the market, that way people who don't want to run the risk don't have to and people who do can. Developers who want a larger catch of the market will benefit from verification, those who aren't bothered can still release unverified code.

Guest craigb244 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 all this news does it give the crapple guys something to jiz over and blag about to hide their real underling feeling that they have/are been bum raided by granny smith :D
Guest Simon O Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 If any app like this hits the market then it will get removed quick. The problem is this app would also end up on the many websites that offer pirated Android apps for a monthly fee.

Or are you saying that verification happens passively, after it's been submitted? Personally, I'm not too worried about the fate of those who want to rip off apps.
