Hi people :D

Here's my story/problem :

A few days ago (let's say 3 or 4), my liquid decided to go on strike, and I can start it up no more. (And the last time I flashed my phone was in june, so this is not a human mistake which lead to this).

The symptoms are :

  • no vibration while pressing the start button :D
  • a black screen (even though in the first hours it started to run crazy, I managed to enter malez recovery via the key combination)
  • right now, no vibrations at all when on battery only. This means fastboot shortcut, recovery shortcut and startup button have no effect
  • when usb is plugged, I still can not start up the device, no recation, but it vibrates when doing fastboot and recovery combinations (but still nothing on screen)
  • when entering bootloader mode (i think this is it) with usb connected, the device is recognized by the computer

So, now this is what I tried since the problem has occured :

- I've recharged the phone 24hrs in a row to make sure the battery is full

- I wanted at first to tweak the device by accessing malez recovery, but i was soon unable to reach it

- As the phone can still be recognized by the PC, I started flashing it in AMSS mode with the acer tool using the 1.100.05 bin (also tried 1.100.39, same behaviour). Luckily, it started flashing for a while. But at some point in the process, it gets stuck on this message :"Change mode, please wait [download mode => OS download mode ]". At that point, the acer tool tries to reboot the device (and I can see a looping "micro flashing" screen, this is barely perceptible) , but it seems to fail, as it's no more detected by the PC. I tried 2 PCs and several USB ports but still no luck.

Have you already experienced such an issue? Do you have any idea on how to solve it?

Thank you for reading and trying to help ;)

Have you tried entering in recovery mode, by button combination? (power + camera + volume down while unplugged usb)

Yes I have, and as I said, it worked at first (I managed to enter recovery mode 2 or 3 times), but then, no way to enter it while usb unplugged, the device doesn't even vibrate. The only way for it to vibrate is to plug it and then try either the recovery mode combination, or the fastboot combination. But in any case, the screen remains as black as a new moon night.

try to remove your battery for some seconds.

try to remove your battery for some seconds.

That's one of the first things I tried. Didn't change a thing ;)

I also tried to play with the reset button, but it was of no help either.

The thing I would like to know is : would anyone know how to do as to complete the flashing procedure. The current major issue is the flashing stopping at some point (ie "Change mode, please wait [download mode => OS download mode ]"). I then have to unplug the phone and to kill the acer tool task, if not, the device keeps trying to boot forever (the looping flashing screen).

This is really disturbing, as I did nothing that could have bricked the phone. But as far as I know, if the phone can still be detected by windows, and the flashing procedure initiated, there should be a way to fix the phone without sending it back to the assistance (which I can't currently do, since I'm far away from home for quite a long time, plus knowing their speed when it comes to dealing with returns, I wouldn't be really keen on sending it back to them).

BTW & FYI, last detail : this happened the day after I arrived in Switzerland. I wouldn't say the Swiss are responsible for that but... What a coincidence :D :D

Ok, but have you got a backup of your telephone (nandroid)? Because if you can enter in the recovery (or also copying it from the memory card) and flash your phone with it, probably it will work.

Or, at least, you can exclude it's a software problem (which could be worse)

I do have a nandroid backup on my sd card, but as a stated before, I can NOT :D access recovery mode as :

1- even if the phone vibrates 3 times, the screen remains black and I do not see the ACER logo anymore (no boot).

2- as I initiated a flashing process, the malez recovery was erased

Plus, even if this backup could be of any use, I'm not at home and do not have the micro SD to SD adaptor as to save the backup on my pc.

Right now, the only thing I can do is starting the phone in bootloader mode (the screen remains black, but at least it's recognized and I can start flashing it.) I'd like to find the way to complete the process. :D

My phone definitely looks like a whale on a beach ;)

Did the flashing procedure stopped after or before the flashing? You can buy a microusb adapter and get those files, the, using fastboot, you can flash them :D

The flashing procedure stops in the middle of the task, while trying to switch from download mode to os download mode.

Not so easy, as fastboot doesn't work. And I don't want to restore the backup, since the thing that made everything screw up is in this backup. I'd like a good old fresh flash to get a brand new phone. Some people seem to have experienced the same situation, but either they don't tell how they fixed it, or their fix was useless to me.

BTW, The device that's recognized by windows is "Acer HS-USB Diagnostics", and fastboot doesn't detect the phone. The only way to interact with it is via the Acer tool

Hi

I had kind of same issue few days ago, I had to unplug (the usb) then plug again, while Acer tools was still on "not connected" status. I did this as I had no other choice, but it worked for me. Maybe it could help you too.

I'd like to thank each and everyone of you for your help.

I managed to mend the device on my own.

Here is what I did if it ever occurs again to someone :

- I let the phone unplugged and without battery for one night

- I deleted the acer download tool and downloaded it again from a link on modaco

- I deleted and reinstalled Acer drivers while disabling internet connexion on the PC so that it wouldn't go and look for some other driver in the windows update repository

After that I plugged the phone to the PC without battery and, by magic, when pressing cam + volume UP + start, the screen went on and I entered bootloader mode. I then could flash the device.

Now everything is good and running. I keep my fingers crossed.
