Guest Rocky7 Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 New virus sweep through Android powered handsets (says Steve Jobs or A.N.Other Mobile Phone AntiVirus Co) The new virus gets on your handset easily and replicates, all an android user need to do to get infected is * receive an infected message from an unknown source * open the unsolicited message * decide to download this application * click on the download APK link * choose install - the handset then says "you cannot install untrusted applications" * exit the messages application * press menu * select settings * select applications * tick UNKNOWN SOURCES * press HOME * press Messages * select the infected message * click on the link * open the downloaded APK * choose install * ignore the message which says the application may send SMSs and use services which cost you money * choose OK Seamless! Here is my iPhone virus .. * send a message to an iphone owner telling them to place their iphone under the wheel of a car and then run over their handset * voila, a completely knackered handset ... Apple are a disgrace, how can they let this happen
Guest awarner Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Apple do it because a recent report indicated that Android was outselling iPhone
Guest Speckles Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Here is my iPhone virus .. * send a message to an iphone owner telling them to place their iphone under the wheel of a car and then run over their handset * voila, a completely knackered handset ... Apple are a disgrace, how can they let this happenThere are much better iPhone viruses than that. The best one I've seen sends you an emailed with a PDF attached claiming to be an invoice. You open the PDF and the virus is installed. You then delete the email thinking it's junk whilst the virus stays in the background emailing itself to your contacts trying to find another victim. The best bit? You can't gid rid of the virus without jailbreaking your phone, as the OS by default doesn't allow the operations required (delete files from the system area) There is a protection app that fixes the PDF exploit, but it requires a jail broken phone. As a bonus though, you can jailbreak your phone by downloading a different PDF...
