Newbie needs help doing a backup

Hi there,

I have the Hu 2.1 on my pulse but want to update to UK 2.1. Was told that i need to do a nandroid backup but i have no idea what this is and there is no basic guide to this on the forum can someone help please?

Up above under "Pinned topics" there are a couple of descriptions, but none of them are labeled that plainly.

The guide is labeled "Installing a 2.1 Custom ROM". Ignore the title for now, and just do Steps 1-6.

Skip Step 7 (until later when you want to put a custom ROM on your phone; you will probably want to)

Step 8 is when the actual backup happens.

After the backup (Step 8), go back to the instructions for how to install an official ROM: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&amp...t&p=1318835

Thanks for that help much appreciated, after some thought im not sure its necessary for me to do nandroid backup but i would like to backup my messages can this be done? thanks

PS Oh I'd also like to backup my group that i setup which has a few favourite contacts in if this can be done.
