r5 Update - launcher fc problem on startup

Hi All,

I rooted my hero last year and have the Modaco 2.8 rom installed. The phone's been great and I finally decided to get round to putting the 2.1 on.

I updated the Amon Ra recovery image from 1.2 something to 1.5.2 which is fine.

When I flash a build of r5 from the kitchen (with pretty much the standard items checked on it) it goes through the install fine but once its booted I keep getting the htc launcher force closing about every 5 seconds. It never actually comes up into a usable state.

I've tried this a couple of times but keep having to go back to my nandroid backup.

Does this ring any bells with anyone?

Also make sure to include Sync and Weather in the kitchen..

Those 2 together have solved my com.htc.bgp crashes and also by the looks of it my launcher crashes.

I had the same problem, but once reboot the phone It was ok.

@toxic-hero - not yet, was hoping for it to just come up like last time, but its next.

@sambartle - sync & weather? sync i could sort of understand but weather? wierd.

Yeah it seemed weird to me as well.. it seemed that sync tried to get weather data (or something else does via sync anyways) and then it blew up (i could see it in the logs)

I installed weather, and touch wood.. no problems for a week now.
