Anybody know of any Apps which you can use Skype on? I've looked at a few but none seem to work.

Cheers

You can't get Skype for Android (well, not the full one anyway) - there was a version that was on 3 for a while but don't know if it works...

I always had Fring working, but haven't bothered to re-install it for a while, it support Skype, MSN, Yahoo etc etc all in one window. Another thought; is the failure down to your carrier blocking voip?

Fring does not support Skype anymore. Use Nimbuzz instead

yeah works fine. It dials a number and routes it over the voice channel, but as three do not charge for calls to that number, it works a treat. but the skype for three is based on iskoot.

I believe Fring does still support skype. It's just that the video call function was removed.

It really beggars belief that there is still no android skype client (I don't mean just the one for 3). Skype are missing out on an enormous revenue stream here. I know I would use it very frequently.

I've tried Fring and Nimbuzz, but the quality of the call for me made them unusable.

I have tried several versions of Nimbuzz (even the latest one) but I don't get voice sounds. It is alerting me on an incoming call but I don't hear anything after pickup. Even the other party doesn't hear me.

Could someone help me out?

think u can sure post rapidshare links, as long as it is hosting freeware.

besides there is a skype version available but the problem is that it drains the battery quickly, as far as i know, this issue hasnt been resolved still.

Is this a skype lite application? Does it use your inclusive minutes to make the skype call like the application on the 3 network?

Or is this a full "skype as we know it on our PC" client?

I wouldn't feel too guilty about downloading it even if it wasn't official - after all, i'm giving skype money!

This explains how to put skype lite on your phone:

http://www.mikesouthby.co.uk/2010/07/insta...-on-htc-desire/

I installed it and it works wonderfully. The only caveat to that is that it calls a phone number which, somewhere in the background, connects with the skype network, so it never actually uses the data connection on your phone.

In my case this is fine as I have inclusive minutes on my contract which I never uses anyway. I used it the other day to call someone in another country and the call quality was fantastic. Much better than if it was a VOIP call.
